Words from ThomasThomas KleinertThis is a year of looking back with gratitude – 50 years of ministry on the corner of Harding Road and Vine Court; 180 years of ministry in Nashville. This is a year of looking forward with renewed vision – The Journey continues as we are gathering the insights, ideas, and comments from our prayer triplets. Our calendar is filled with big dates already: The Journey workshops on Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14. Our Anniversary Celebration on October 12 with worship, special music, a lovely lunch, and organ concert. I want to ask you to consider adding one more event to your calendar: Vine Street Christian Church will be the Honoree at the Founders Banquet of the Pastoral Counseling Centers of Tennessee. The counseling center became reality in 1985 thanks to the vision of Dr. Dan Moseley, Senior Minister, and the Board of Elders of Vine Street Christian Church. This ministry has now grown to eight locations including offices dedicated to serving Nashville’s Spanish-speaking population. The Pastoral Counseling Centers of Tennessee is a wonderful example of renewed vision taking shape in transforming ministry, now celebrating its 28th year of embodying the healing presence of God. If you would like to attend the Founders Banquet and did not receive a personal invitation, please contact Chrissa Walsh at 383-0792. Bethany Hills is the Regional Camp and Conference Center for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Swimming, football, volleyball, Frisbee, creek walking and a weenie roast (compliments of Rob McRight) were all part of the festivities. Thanks to Caitlin Dixon, everyone enjoyed s’mores without even breaking a sweat. At the end of the afternoon, the group made a $100 donation to the camp along with a promise to return in the future.
