Get a Preview May 3, First Performance of a New Hymn Written for Christian Church, Disciples of Christ!A brand new hymn will be included in our 10:45 worship Sunday. It
will be sung as the Choral Call to Worship by the Vine Street Choirs
and the Joyful Noise Group and the congregation will be invited to join
on the final refrain. The hymn text of “Come All Disciples” was written
by the Reverend Glenn Thomas Carson in late 2008. It has been set to
music by Organist-Director of Music Ministries, Julia C. Callaway. The
hymn is being presented as a gift to the Christian Church and will be
sent to all ministers of music in the Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ) by Polar Star Press.
What is a canticle? This word appears in our new hymn, in the hymn “When Morning Gilds the Skies” , and also will be the postlude title on Sunday. A canticle is a hymn derived from the Bible. It may be a chant, hymn, or song, often non-metrical, with words from biblical texts. Julia Callaway, Director of Music Ministries |
