I have added a new resource for you on this website called the First Grade Units page. On this page you will find resources for each of the units we do. You will find links to the online resources we use in class and others that can help your child. These resources are helpful to use to study for the unit test, to find artifacts and complete homework, or to help your child if they are absent. Also take a look at Senora Sophia's Spanish page to help your child with Spanish. I hope you find them helpful! |

We are now beginning to learn about graphing in math. We would like your help. Please fill out our online poll about your favorite subject when you were in school. We will graph the information and then post our results on our blog. |

This month we have so many things to look forward to! - The fall carnival is on the 24th. We need donations to our class basket to help raise money for our class. The theme is OSU.
- We are also coming up on the end of the first quarter. Grade cards will be available on the 23rd. Please look them over, sign them, and return them. It is very important that you contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Parent/Teacher conferences will be coming up next month.
- Red Ribbon Week is the 26th to the 30th. We will be celebrating living a drug-free life. There are fun activities going on all week. The students will be able to dress up everyday! Please look for more information coming soon. We are also collecting pennies this month to help children who are born affected by drugs.
- We will also participate in the living rosery on the 28th at 9:30 a.m. Parents are welcome to come.
- Also I'm returning to the classroom this month! My first official day back is the 19th, although I will be around before that. I will be working with Ms.Buxton to make the transition as easy as possible. I know there will be some changes, but I'm sure the students will not have a hard time adjusting. I have missed the school and I'm excited about being back!

Each year during the Fall Carnival our class puts together a basket to raffle at the carnival. This year we will create an OSU basket (sorry for the OU fans). Please help us by donating OSU items for our basket. Bring your items to our classroom. All the money from the raffle for our basket will go to help our classroom.

Summer is here and I am already planning for
next year! As most of you know, I am expecting my first child in
August. I will be gone on maternity leave for a brief time at the
beginning of the year. I have a wonderful substitute coming in to help
me and I will come to the school and visit often. You
can do much this summer to make next year an even better one. Be
positive about your child’s placement. Encourage your child to accept
responsibility. Help your child learn to make decisions and accept the
results of those decisions. Give your child the gift of organization
and a strategy to develop it. Share times that are creative, not
necessarily expensive. Encourage independence, but do not expect it to
be absolute. And don't forget to read! Have fun! If your child will be in my class next year, I encourage you to look at the Our Classroom page and share it with your child. You may also want to look at our school website for more information. (Villa Teresa School) Have a great summer! |
