The USA Patriots are a competitive U13 Boys soccer team, based primarily in the southwest Salt Lake Valley.  The team has enjoyed a lot of success, winning the State premier division title multiple times, Utah State Cup runner-up, Utah Summer Games Gold Medalist, twice and Las Vegas Turkey Shoot Semifinalist.  This website is meant to be informative and fun for the team, their families and friends and for anyone who may be interested in trying out.

OLD NEWS

Game Recap, 9/6/08, vs. Utah Rush
The Utah Rush were the only team to beat the Patriots in the Spring season, when they came out with a close 1-0 win.  They also beat us 1-0 in the Gold medal game of Summer Games and were the team we played that broke Austin's leg.  With all that being said, a little bit of good natured revenge was on the minds of the boys as they took the field in Centerville for an early morning game.  With no referees, the game started about 35 minutes late, waiting for some refs to arrive.  This didn't dissaude the Patriots as they jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead off of goals by Hunter Stutz and a PK conversion by Reed Dudley.  The defense held strong throughout the game, with Mark playing very solid in goal.  The last goal came from our newest acquisition, Johnnie Ruiz, off a beautiful free kick to seal the game at 3-0.  Great compusure and a great victory for the Patriots.  They are playing very well.

Game Recap, 9/2/08, vs. UC Strikers
Fresh off a hard fought and disappointing loss to LaRoca, the Patriots were anxious for the Labor Day weekend to pass and get back on the pitch!  They showed their eagerness by dominating the game from the start and drilling UC Strikers 6-1 at Canyonview Park.  This also marked the first game with some significant lineup changes for the Patriots, with Chandler moving to attacking midfield, Andy moving to outside mid, and the two Hunter starting out up top.  UC Strikers only goal was a breakaway in the closing seconds of the game.  All the boys played well and clearly made a statement with this win.  Goals were by Hunter McFall (2), Austin (2), Andy and Braxten with a nice header.  Great job and a great win.

Game Recap, 8/26/08, vs. LaRoca FC
In a tough battle between the top two premier teams of the Spring season, LaRoca got the better of the Patriots this time around, 2-1 at Canyonview Park.  The Patriots started the game off strong, keeping possession well and playing mostly in our attacking half of the field.  Against the run of play, LaRoca got a nice shot off that hit the crossbar and bounced in for a 1-0 lead.  The first half ended with that score and the second half began with LaRoca coming out with most of the possesion, eventually hitting a long range shot for a 2-0 lead.  The Patriots never give up and kept fighting, eventually resulting in a nice run down the sideline by Christian Evans, sending a shot to the goal that the LaRoca keeper mishandled and Andy there to put in the back of the net.  The rest of the game was a highly intense battle, with a few good chances to equalize, but the final was 2-1.  Great effort Patriots.

USA Adidas Cup, August 2008, Riverton/Herriman
The Patriots, having won the gold medal each year that they have participated in the USA Adidas Cup, looked for a bigger challenge and played up a year in the top bracket, the Red division.  They starting off dropping a tough game to a big Utah Steam team.  Next up was the year older USA premier team, which had just pummelled Utah Steam, 5-0.  The boys played very aggressive and with a lot of heart, winning a come-from-behind game, 3-2.  It was a great win.  Next, we dropped another tough game to eventual gold medal winner, Champions FC.  The 4th and final game of the tournament, was a 2-2 draw with the year older USA 2nd team.  All in all a great tournament and a great way to prepare for the season.  We appreciate Josh, from Razzia and Landon, from Strikers, for guest playing with us.

Summer Games, June 2008, Cedar City
This was the 4th year that the Patriots have participated in Summer Games and it turned out to be a true test of their character.  Two new players we picked up at tryouts from the 2nd team, Christian Evans and Hunter McFall, switched over to their new team for the Summer Games and were quickly rewarded with a 3-0 victory over a gutsy Revolution team.  The team then played a tough game, beating Rampage 1-0.  The next game was against Utah Rush, where there were some tough moments that the boys overcame like true champions.  First, Jeff Arens suffered a severly pulled hamstring that he had been fighting with the whole tournament.  He wasn't able to go in this game.  That took us down to 12 players.  Then Austin Farr, on a breakaway, collided with the Rush goalie and had to be carried off the field.  We later found out that Austin fractured the growth plate in his leg.  Now we are down to 11 players, and up 1-0.  Then Mark Stanley, our keeper, collided with another player and suffered a bloody nose and had to come off the field.  Down to 10 players.  Chandler quickly took over at goalkeeper and the score was now 1-1.  But with the boys giving their all, they put in two more goals to win the game 3-1, playing a majority of the 2nd half a man down.  Great heart shown by the team!  The Patriots then tied the Lakers 2-2 and in a somewhat anti-climatic Gold medal game, dropped a 1-0 game to the same Rush team.  The Patriots, playing with only 11 players, dominated possession, but just couldn't put any goals in the back of the net, and had to settle for silver.  Great job by the team.  Great fun for all that were involved.

Tryouts, Fall/Spring 2008/2009 Recap
There were a few changes with the Patriots after tryouts.  Edgar, Tommy and Brady went to the White (2nd) team.  Stanley went back to Sparta.  The Patriots picked up Hunter McFall and Christian Evans from the White team, and Hunter Stutz from the Blue team.  Coach Ahmed and Justin feel very good about the new additions and will keep the roster at 14, looking to add another strong piece to the team later on before state cup.

Game Recap, 5/3/08, vs. UC Strikers - The Patriots calmy finished the season with an efficient win over a solid UC Strikers team, 3-1.  With Braxten, Stanley and Edgar missing for various reasons, the Patriots called up Hunter Stutz on a developmental pass to provide some depth.  Hunter quickly took advantage of the opportunity by netting the first goal for the Patriots.  Andy put in the 2nd goal of the game and then Dot, in a dazzling dribbling display (reminiscent of his father), put home the 3rd goal to clinch the win for the Patriots.  With the win, the Patriots finish the 2008 Spring season, 6-1-3 and led the league in goals scored and goal differential.  Great season and a credit to the boys who stuck with it, worked hard and rebounded in tremendous fashion from the tough Fall league season.  We will continue to practice as normal up to tryouts.

Game Recap, 4/29/08, vs. Utah Rangers - In a stunning display of precision, discipline and execution, the Patriots completely dismantled the Utah Rangers 8-0 on a blustery evening in Orem.  The scoring started early, with Chandler running down a long ball from Austin and calmly slotting the ball into the goal past the onrushing keeper.  Not too long after that, Chandler took a ball down the right side and ripped a nice 18 yard shot that bounced off the crossbar only to have Andy husting to head it home for the quick 2-0 lead.  The scoring continued as Austin moved up and netted two impressive goals, with Jaden and Dot adding the final two.  With a 6-0 halftime lead, wholesale changes were made and Mark came out of the goal to feature as the target forward.  The Rangers battled, but the Patriots kept cool and put in two more goals, with Stanley and Dot rounding out the 8-0 blowout, including a beautiful switch of the field by English to an onrushing Dot who calmly finished.  There were times in the game where the Patriots were able to string together 15-20 passes without giving up possession.  Some commented that this is the best the team has every played.  Great job by everyone on the team, this was truly a team victory.  Mark and Brady combined for the shutout in goal and the defense was stellar with 10 different players playing along the defensive line.  Great job to the team.  One more game left!

Game Recap, 4/26/08, vs. Strikers - The Patriots battled a tough Strikers team to a 1-1 tie on a cold, but beautiful Saturday afternoon.  The Patriots took the early lead with a great ball from Braxten to Andy who finished nicely.  The score remained 1-0 for a while until the Strikers finally struck the back of the net, to even the score 1-1.  Despite constant pressure, the score remained deadlocked at 1 and the Patriots were left with their 3rd tie of the season.  The defense was stellar, despite the momentary mistakes that lead to the goal.  When we hold an opponent to only 1 goal, we should win the game and will look to our next game to get the offense rolling.  Good, hard fought game for both teams.

Game Recap, 4/23/08, vs. LaRoca FC - On a beautiful Spring day, the Patriots battled LaRoca for a 2-1 victory.  LaRoca came into the game 7-0 and in first place.  The boys played very hard and fought for the victory.  The Patriots went up 1-0 on a beautiful free kick by Reed Dudley and took that lead into halftime.  With the start of the second half, LaRoca came out fighting and eventually equalised 1-1.  The boys didn't give up and kept attacking, with Andy eventually earning a PK that Reed calmly put away for the 2-1 victory.  It was a very intense game, with both teams giving their all.  The defense was very organized and played fantastic throughout the game.  Great job to all the boys and their effort.

Game Recap, 4/19/08, vs. Ogden FC - On a horribly windy day, the Patriots played to a 3-3 tie.  The match started with the team going with the wind, a huge advantage on a day like this.  Despite constant pressure, we went down 0-1, when Ogden scored a goal against the run of play.  Austin Farr was moved up top to take advantage of the wind and the Patriots raced out to a 3-1 advantage at half time, with 2 goals from Austin and 1 goal from Andy Bergeson.  Ogden was fortunate to only be down 3-1 as we had several narrow misses, including Andy shooting one over the goal and Chandler Call just missing on the right post.  The second half started and the Patriots quickly scored what appeared to be the 4th goal of the game, but after a brief conference with the side referee, the center ref ruled that the goal was offside, and the seemingly insurmountable 4-1 advantage was back to 3-1.  That turn of events turned out to be key, as Ogden eventually tied up the game 3-3 and the game ended.

Game Recap, 4/17/08, vs. Rampage - This was a big game for the resurgent Patriots as Rampage has handled us fairly easily the last two meetings.  The game was again at Canyonview Park on a cool, blustery day.  The Patriots started off strong, with Chandler netting the first goal to take a 1-0 lead.  Rampage scored 2 goals on quick counter attacks to take a 2-1 lead going late into the game.  We missed several one-on-one chances with the keeper and also hit the crossbar a couple of times.  Chanlder hit the equaliser with a few minutes left in the game to know the score at 2-2.  The Patriots had their chances to win, but just couldn't get another one in.  Mark made a great save towards the end to preserve the draw.  Bradyn English was particularly strong at right fullback in the 2nd half and shut down that side.  Great game by the boys, they really played well and could have easily had another 3-4 goals tacked on with a little bit more clinical finishing.

Game Recap, 4/12/08, vs. USA White 96 - The Patriots continued to roll with a 4-0 victory over our club rival at Canyonview Park.  Goals were scored by Edgar, Andy, Chandler and Reed.  Edgar's goal was his first in a Patriots' uniform.  The game was never really in doubt as the team took a 2-0 halftime lead and then continued to put the game away in the second half, resulting in the 4-0 victory.  This was the largest margin of victory over the White 96 team this year in the premier division.  They lost to LaRoca 3-0 and Rampage 2-1, so a good, solid win for the Patriots.

Game Recap, 4/5/08, vs. Sparta Premier White - Canyonview Park, the new home field of the Patriots, was the venue for this impressive victory over Sparta Premier White, 5-1.  The team came out on fire, taking a 3-0 halftime lead with goals from Andy, Dot & Chandler.  Going against the wind in the 2nd half, the Patriots kept the pressure on, adding 2 more goals by Andy and allowing just one from Sparta, for the 5-1 victory.  The defense played very well again, and Sparta didn't really have many chances.  Mark made some outstanding saves and Austin again played sweeper to keep the Sparta attack in check.  The new members of the team, Edgar, Tommy and Brady (joined right before state cup), all performed very well and have helped to strengthen the team.  Next up is a rivalry game against USA Revolution, Saturday, at Canyonview Park.

Game Recap, 4/1/08, vs. Razzia Diablos - The Patriots picked up their first win of the Spring season, 4-2, over the Razzia Diablos.  Goals were by Andy (2), Chandler and Jeff.  It was a cold evening at Bennion Jr. High, but the team played well and jumped out to an early lead.  Razzia is a good team, with very good forward play and they look to play the long ball at every opportunity.  Austin Farr, arguably one of the fastest U12 kids in the state, played sweeper to help with their long ball tactics.  Having a speed guy in the back with this type a team is critical in chasing down the long balls.  Mark Stanley made some outstanding saves at Goalkeeper to help preserve the lead.

Game Recap, 3/29/08, vs. Utah Rush - The team lost a tough battle with the Utah Rush, 0-1 at Mueller Park in Bountiful.  We started the game with only 12 players and played the second half with only 11, so the boys battled hard and competed very well.  It was a tightly contested game throughout, with the difference being a nice little finish by one of the Rush's forwards on a quick counter attack.  The conditions were less than ideal, with blustery winds, frigid temperatures and light snowfall throughout the game.  The team had their chances to equalize, but wasn't meant to be on this day.

Winter Recap, Spring Preview (3/10/08) - The Patriots had a strong winter season, playing in the top flight Futsal league in the state.  The team was divided into 2 teams and both teams have won some, lost some and tied some.  All of the players that participated have improved their skills and increased their confidence.  Several of the players also participated in the President's Day Futsal Tournament at the Salt Palace.  This is the biggest Futsal tournament in the country.  The team did very well, taking home the silver medal.  It was a great experience, playing a team from Porto Alegre, Brazil.  (we won 8-3!)  Jaden was able to play with the Brazilian team where he set the example for good sportsmanship:)

The Spring season is now upon us and we had a good scrimmage against Firebirds Black on Saturday (3/8).  The boys played very well and the score reflected that.  Two new players have joined the team... Tommy Sanchez and Edgar Cuenca.  We are very pleased to have both players; they played well and fit in good with the team.  We are looking forward to a great spring season.

Season Ends - The Patriots season ended Thursday with a disappointing 2-1 defeat to the UC Strikers.  The lone goal was by Andy.  This loss was preceded by a 2-0 loss to Ogden FC on Tuesday, bringing the Patriots State Cup run to a premature end.  All of the boys fought hard and look forward to performing better in the spring.  We will take some time off before getting together once a week somewhere to get "touches" on the ball.  If anyone has access to or any connections to some indoor facility, i.e. warehouse, gym, anything that is indoor that we can play on, let Ahmed or I know.  We will play futsal the second session starting in January.  We will have a parents meeting to be announced shortly, probably 11/1 at 8:00 pm, to wrap the fall season.

State Cup - The Patriots, defending State Cup Silver medalists, begin their run at this year's state cup on Tuesday, October 23rd, against Ogden FC.  Game time is 5:40 pm at the Cemetery Field in Orem.  Second pool play game is Thursday, October 25th, 5:40 pm against UC Strikers, also at the Cemetery Field.  This year's State Cup winners will move on to Regionals in Hawaii.  We have our injured players back, some new additions and the talent and drive to win it all.  Go Patriots!!!

Team Events - Monday, October 15th, is the last Real Salt Lake home game of the season.  We have purchased some tickets for everyone on the team and perhaps some parents, depending on how many we use for the players.  The game is at 7:00 pm and we want all the boys to come and hang out together.  The boys will meet at the bottom of section N23 and they can then find a place to sit together.  If someone needs a ride, talk with others who are going and I'm sure we can secure rides for everyone.

Friday, October 19th, we are having practice from 6-7 and then the boys are going to have a "movie night" at the Underwood home in Daybreak.  This is for the boys (not families) and they will watch an inspiring soccer movie and/or highlights.  It should be a good time for everyone.

Fall Season Wrap - The team finished a tough fall season with a thrilling victory over Odgen FC, 4-3 then lost a controversial game against Rampage, 2-0 and ended the fall season with a 1-1 tie against the Utah Valley Rangers, in a game that saw the Patriots continually pounding shots at the goal, but not being able to get the game winner in.  The team looks forward to a couple of weeks of practice and then making a good run at State Cup.  Mark Stanley and Brayden Ferrin should be recovered from injuries and ready to go.

Character Building Season continues - The Patriots lost to UC Strikers 3-2, Utah Rush 3-0 and La Roca 4-0 then picked up a win 9-2 against Boca, where Andy scored 6 goals!  Brady Slack, a goalkeeper & defender, has joined the team from the White team.  Jacob Hickenlooper, also a defender, has joined the team from the U13 White team.  Both are eligible to play in state cup.  We welcome these new additions to the team.

The Patriots "Sprunt" legacy moves on - After speaking with Hollie and Matt Sprunt, it was decided that the best thing for Scott as a player, would be to join the White team, coached by Adam Sollis.  Scott has been a Patriot since the beginning and Hollie has been the team manager and finace guru.  Although very difficult to part ways, it was mutually decided that it would be the best for Scott as a player right now.  I want to personally thank Hollie for all her efforts with our team and Matt as well for helping with the nets.  Sheila Ramirez has been "promoted" from mellow team parent to Team Manager.  We appreciate Sheila's willingness to step up to this lofty position within the organization.

Patriots lay another egg - 3-1 loss to the Strikers.  Lone goal by Chandler.  Yellow cards to Chandler & Ahmed.  Dubious PK to Strikers.  2 breakaway goals by the Strikers who played well to win the game.  Side note:  Ferrin broke his arm showing off on the trampoline to the neighborhood girls.  Out 4 weeks.  We wish him a speedy recovery.

Patriots lay an egg - The Patriots lost Saturday to Sparta Dunkley, 3-0.  Sparta scored an early goal to go up 1-0 and that remained the score for the majority of the game.  As the Patriots looked to equalize late, Sparta put 2 more goals in to seal their upset win.  Sparta did a good job stifling our offense, as the Patriots had few chances.  The team will use this as a learning experience and come out a better team for the next game.

Fall Season Underway - The U12 season got underway on 8/25 and the Patriots came out a winner 6-0 against Sparta Select, in a solidly played game.  The defense was stellar throughout the match, but the offense took a while to get rolling.  Chandler scored in the 1st half, as the Patriots took a 1-0 halftime lead.  In the 2nd half, the offense got rolling, scoring 5 goals.  Goals were by Andy (2), Chandler (2), Stanley and Ferrin, with a nice header off of a cross from Jeff.  The defense played offense and the offense played defense to end the game.  Good win to start the year.

USA Adidas Cup
- The Patriots brought home the gold for the 3rd consecutive year, with an impressive victory over TC United 7-2 in the championship.  Stanley had 3 goals, Dot had 2, Reed and Chandler had 1 goal a piece.  Every player played well and the team is really beginning to "gel".  The season starts this Saturday! (8/25)

2007 USA Adidas Cup - U12 Champions

Park City Extreme Cup - The Patriots played up a year in the U13 Platinum (highest) bracket and played very well, going 1-2.  The first loss came in the 2nd game game of a "double header" that was scheduled by the tournament, where the boys had no break inbetween games and the 2nd loss was to the Rampage Premier team, one of the top teams in the state, up a year.  The experience was good for the team and helped everyone to come together and play hard.

TEAM PARTY!! -  We are having a team party with the "new" team on Tuesday, June 19th, 6:30 pm at the Arens´ home.  (Jeff)  It is a swim party for the whole family.  Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be provided.  Please bring a dish to share.  (fruit, salad, dessert, etc)  Also, bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.  Please RSVP to justin@utahsocceralliance.com on how many will be in your party.  Thanks.

Summer Games Gold Medalists! - The Patriots brought home the gold from the Utah Summer Games for the 2nd consecutive year.  They beat Lakers 8-2, Tornado 5-1 then thrashed Rampage United 10-0 in the semi-finals.  They closed it out with a come-from-behind, 4-3 victory over a year older Advantage team.  The tournament marked the debut of new team members Stanley Underwood and Dallin Hansen, who both played very well.  It also marked the farewell of longtime teammate, Parker Moss, who is moving to Arizona and we want to wish him and his family the best.  Dallin White is also leaving to pursue other sports, but we´re hoping the pull of soccer and this team is too hard to resist!  Great job to all the boys and Ahmed.
Spring season 2007 (Wrapup) - The boys finished the season last night with a 3-3 tie against the Utah Valley Rangers.  With the tie, the team clinched at least a tie for 1st place in the Premier division.  Austin had a hat trick to account for the 3 goals.  The Rangers played very well and the team had to fight hard to preserve the tie.

The season has been a little bit up and down - both on and off the field - and adjusting to a coaching change.  Moving forward, things will be more up than down as some guidelines will be established and the boys will all benefit as they continue to work hard.  This is a tough time of year as the team always changes a little bit from tryouts.  Every player on this team is and has been a great contributor and I´ve grown to admire and respect each one.  Moving forward into tryouts and next year, I commit to making sure everyone has a positive experience.  That may mean some playing on the 2nd team and developing their confidence and skills.  I have very good friends whose kids play on the 2nd team and they are having a positive experience.  The 2nd team will play in Division 1 next year.  Most will return and with hard work and commitment, we will have success and we will have FUN!  I appreciate each and every one of the boys and am proud of their success.

Spring season 2007
- In a surprisingly competitive game, the Patriots had to rally back from a 2-1 second half deficit for a 3-2 victory, keeping their premiership title hopes alive.  Goals by Austin, Reed & Chandler.  The Patriots held a slim 1-0 halftime lead despite dominating the play, but just couldn´t finish several chances.  The crossbar was hit a couple of different times in the first half.  With the rain/sleet/snow coming down, the boys found themselves down 2-1 after a PK and another quick goal.  But they didn´t hang their heads and came back for the deserved win.  Last game is this Monday against the Rangers.
Announcement
-
On a sad note, the Moss Family (Parker) will be moving this summer to the Phoenix, Arizona area.  Darin has been a great supporter of the team and the USA Club, serving as team manager for 2 years and most recently coaching the U9 girls premier and select teams.  Parker has been on the Patriots since the team formed in 2004 and has been a great contributor and a great kid.  I know I will miss the Moss family tremendously and am sure that there is at least 1 or 2 others who will too...  Best of luck in Arizona!
Spring season 2007
- Another day, another win.  The Patriots beat Sparta Select, 5-1 on a warm spring day.  The team was without the services of Braxten, who suffered a broken fibula.  He has been playing with a broken leg the last few weeks!  Andy continued his scorching goal scoring run, with a hat trick.  Austin scored and Nick scored his first goal with the team.  With 2 more games left in the season, we are in the driver´s seat for 1st place of the Premier division.  Two more wins, Premier Division title.  Andy is first in the league in scoring, Chandler is 3rd, Dallin and Austin are tied for 5th.  Go Patriots!
Spring season 2007
- The Patriots racked up another win, 4-1 over SDSC Boca, from Bountiful.  Goals by Andy (2), Josh and Dallin - with a little help from the keeper off of a corner kick.  The game also marked the debut of our new player, Nick, who played at right midfield in the 2nd half.  Special mention to Reed, who was playing great in the first half with a brace on his ankle, then came out and couldn´t even walk he was in so much pain.  What heart!
Spring season 2007
- We tried hard to give the game away, but the Patriots knocked off Sparta 4-3 on Saturday.  Andy provided a hat trick and Austin got the other goal.  We missed two PK´s and had two goals called back from dubious offside calls.  We also gave up a couple of soft goals.  The good news - Sparta beat Rampage 2-1 the following Monday so we are in control of our own destiny once again.  If we finish 4-0, we win the Premier division.  Way to go team!
Spring season 2007
- Well, the team got a bit of a wakeup call on Saturday, with a 5-0 drubbing by Rampage Black in Roy.  The most goals every allowed and the worst defeat ever for this team.  It also ended a 25 game unbeaten streak in league play.  The Patriots responded by posting a 3-1 win against our fellow USA club mates, the Revolution, on Monday.  Goals by Josh, Andy and Chandler.
Spring season 2007
 - Three games already completed in the spring ´07 season and 3-0 is the record!  Game 1 at Ogden FC, 4-0 with goals by Chandler, Austin, Dallin & Parker.  Game 2 was a tough battle, as always, at LaRoca.  With a dismal first half, the boys came through with 2 goals in the 2nd half to win 2-0.  Goals by Brayden Ferrin & Chandler.  Game 3 was a tough defensive game for us, but we still beat Park City 4-1 with goals by Dallin, Chandler (2) and Reed.  What a great start to the season with 2 tough games on the road and then a home victory!  Ahmed has adapted to the boys and the boys to him and we will continue to progress.

Spring season 2007 - The Spring ´07 season started out with a new head coach at the helm.  Justin Call has stepped aside as head coach and turned the reigns over to Ahmed Bakrim.  Justin will be Ahmed´s assistant coach.  It was a difficult decision to step down, but because of a new job, Justin had to make the tough decision.
The website is back up after some technical difficulties...
Las Vegas Turkey Shoot 2006
- What beautiful weather we enjoyed in Las Vegas for the Turkey Shoot over Thanksgiving weekend.  The team performed very well and had a lot of people talking about our play on the field.  We started the tournament out with an impressive 6-0 win over the host team, Neusport FC.  We then played a tough battle under the lights against one of the top Arizona teams, Gilbert Arsenal.  The game ended in a 2-2 tie after a last second goal by Arsenal, just when we thought we had it in the bag!  The next day saw a 9-0 victory in the morning over Club Mexico from Las Vegas.  We then sat in the position of playing Las Vegas Premier, the top team in Nevada and one of the country´s best.  The winner of the game would advance to the finals.  We played a bit soft and tentative in the first half and got down 2-0, and then the team came out with some heart and attitude and we ended up losing 2-0 in a tough battle.  They played great in the second half.

All of the kids played well and it was a great experience playing some great teams on some great fields.  We appreciate Dallin Hansen for being a guest player with us.  He picked up a great nickname, Dot, thanks to his little brother hitting him in the forehead with a golf club and making a "dot".  Thanks to the White´s for the team party on Friday night; everyone enjoyed themselves.

  2006 Las Vegas Turkey Shoot Semi-finalist - U11

State Cup 2006 - The Patriots lost a tough battle in the State Cup Championship, 3-0 to Sparta Justus.  The score does not show how tight the game was.   It was 1-0 at halftime and could have been anyone´s game.  The boys gave it their all and left everything they had on the field.  What a great accomplishment... A 39 game unbeaten streak... finally snapped!  We will practice for the Turkey Shoot after I get back in town, probably with a practice on the 14th.  Check the calendar for dates and times soon.  Thanks to everyone for their support throughout State Cup and the regular season, I appreciate it.

 2006 Utah State Cup Finalist - U11

State Cup 2006 - On another COLD day, the Patriots advance to the State Cup finals with a 1-0 victory over a very good LaRoca team.  The goal was scored in the 2nd half by Chandler.  The defense was stellar by Shea, Braxten, English, Ferrin, Scott and Mark.  We out shot LaRoca about 8-1, so it was a great performance by the team.  Finals will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 28th on Field #6 at Lakeside Sports Park in Orem vs. Sparta Justus!

State Cup 2006 - On a beautiful fall day for soccer, the USA Patriots advanced to the State Cup semi-finals with a 3-1 victory over Sparta Dunkley in the quarterfinals.  Goals were scored by Reed, Jeff and Dallin.  We led 2-0 at halftime and then increased the lead to 3-0 before Sparta scored a late goal on a miscommunication.  Parker and Josh provided a great 2nd half lift with their play off the bench.  We play LaRoca in the semi-finals on Thursday night!  Way to go Patriots!

State Cup 2006 - In 35 degree weather, the boys came away with win #2 in State Cup, 3-1 over the Utah Rangers.  Goals by Reed, Andy and Chandler.  The team started a bit slow, trailing once again at halftime, 0-1.  Quarterfinals will be on Tuesday, exact time, opponent and place to be determined.
State Cup 2006 - The Patriots began their run for the State Cup with an impressive 4-1 victory over a very good Rampage Black team.  The team trailed 0-1 at halftime, but stormed back in the 2nd half with goals by Jeff (2), Chandler and Dallin.  Gage and Scott gave a great spark off the bench and the defense was stellar.  Andy, Reed and Austin applied a lot of pressure offensively that led to the goals.  Great job!
The practice schedule has been updated; please check the calendar.  We will probably add a couple of practices to the calendar, depending on how state cup is going.
Fall season 2006 - The Patriots finished the Fall Season undefeated again, with an 8-0-2 record.  Chandler tied for the leading scorer with 11 goals and Andy tied for 2nd in the league with 7 goals.  Austin, Dallin & Jeff all were tied for 5th with 5 goals a piece.  The team lead the league in scoring with 43 goals.  The defense was impressive and was 3rd in the league for goals allowed with 11.  (Rampage was first with 8 and LaRoca was second with 10.)

It has now been a year since this team´s last defeat!  Truly an amazing accomplishment by these young "men".  We enter state cup as the #2 seed, behind the team who last beat us, Sparta Justus.  Hopefully we can play well and meet his team in the finals of state cup and get revenge!  Great job to the boys.

2006 USA Adidas Cup - The Patriots defended their USA Adidas Cup Gold Medal by defeating Sparta Dunkley 3-0 in the final.  Goals by Chandler, Shea and Reed.  The road to the title began with a 11-0 victory over the Cosmos, a 1-1 tie with the same Sparta team and then a 7-1 victory over USA Revolution in the semis.  Great job to the boys!  A special thanks to all those who helped with fields, goals, nets, concessions, etc.  It was much appreciated!

Information - The regular season schedules have been released.  We are in the U11 Premier Division and play on Monday´s and Saturday afternoons.  Check the calendar and games page.  10-0 is the goal!
Information - After the Adidas Cup, the next two tournaments that we will play in is:  Utah State Cup, October 16th-28th and the Turkey Shoot in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Friday, Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving. (11/24-11/26)  The cost for each of these tournaments is $40 per player.  I expect every player on the team to participate in state cup.  I need to know who will be playing in the Turkey Shoot.  If we do well and advance to the semi-finals, we will play on Sunday.  We will all be staying in the same hotel, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.  Email me or talk to me at practice to let me know.  Thanks.

2006 Utah Summer Games - The Patriots continued their winning ways by going 5-0 at the Utah Summer Games in Cedar City and taking home the gold medal!  They won 5-0, 9-1 and 4-1 in pool play.  They beat Cedar United 5-0 in the semi-finals and Rampage Black 5-1 in the gold medal match.  The team had a great time winning the gold and enjoyed the activities with each other.  Thanks to Alice and Hollie for organizing great "extra-curricular" activities and a special thanks to Lisa Dudley for her great photography and the cd´s!  Way to go team!!!

2006 Utah Summer Games Champions - U10

Spring season 2006 - The team wrapped up an undefeated season in the Premier Divison with a 3-1 victory over UC Sparta.  The victory clinched sole possession of first place at 11-0-1 and 34 points.  The Patriots led the league in goals scored with 58; Andy led the league in scoring with 15 goals and Chandler was 3rd with 10 goals.  11 of 12 players scored at least 1 goal.  The defense was equally impressive and led the league with the fewest goals allowed at 16.  Every player played an important role in this success and they all should be proud of a great accomplishment.
Spring season 2006 - The Patriots got 2 more wins, including a thrilling, come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Rampage in Roy Friday night.  Goals by Austin, Andy, Dallin and the game-winner by Chandler.  They followed that up with an 8-3 victory over the Titans Saturday morning in Sandy.  Goals by Parker, Jeff, Andy, Chandler (3) and Austin (2).  Austin was his usual calming influence at goalie in the 2nd half of both games.  With the two wins, the team moves to 10-0-1 on the year and can wrap up sole possesion of 1st place and an undefeated season with a win this Friday over UC Sparta.  Way to go Patriots!!
Spring season 2006 - With 3 games left, the Patriots are now 8-0-1 after a 7-0 victory over Murray Max.  With the score 6-0 at halftime, the boys moved around and played some different positions, including Andy, looming large at keeper.  We have a tough 3 game stretch to wrap up the season and to accomplish the goal the team set at the beginning of the year-undefeated...
Spring season 2006 - The Patriots move to 7-0-1 with 2 more wins over the weekend, 2-0 over Utah Steam and 8-0 over USA Thunder.  Brayden Ferrin was especially dominant in defense against Steam and was rewarded the next day when he played forward and scored 2 goals!  The defense is getting back to its "stingy" ways and will really be needed as we try to finish undefeated with 4 games left!
Spring season 2006 - The boys wrapped up the weekend with 2 more victories, 5-2 over Blitzz FC and 4-1 over the Strikers on Saturday.  Chandler (2), Parker, Preston and Andy scored in Friday´s game and Andy, Parker, Dallin and Bradyn English scored in Saturday´s victory.  We are currently in 1st place with 16 points.  We have a big game Friday night at Tuscany vs. the Utah Steam, who are also undefeated.
Spring season 2006 - The Patriots continued winning with a "sloppy" 7-3 win over Sparta Dunkley.  Gage and Andy scored 2 goals a piece and Chandler, Parker and Preston added 1 each.  The 3 goals allowed is the most our team has ever allowed in a game except to Sparta Justus and La Roca.  (excluding older teams)  The boys continue to get things done!
Spring season 2006 - With a great comeback, the Patriots tied La Roca 2-2 on Saturday.  The boys were dominating the game in the 1st half when a couple of questionable calls led to a free kick and then a penalty kick and suddenly we are down 2-0.  But with a goal by Andy (assisted by Austin) at the end of the first half and a beautiful header by Parker (assisted by Dallin) in the 2nd half, we tied the game.  We continued to dominate the play and could have ended up on top, but we stayed undefeated for the Spring season.  Well done!
Spring season 2006 - The Patriots move to 2-0 for the spring season with a clutch win over Sparta Koelliker, 2-1.  We went up 2-0 and then held on in the second half for the win.  Dallin scored both goals off assists from Chandler.  Also, Jeff and Austin were superb in the goal.  Bradyn English had a particularly great game at defense, especially with the MONSTER goal kicks!  All the kids played very hard.  We have now won 15 of our last 17 games and have only allowed 2 goals in the 15 wins.  Great job, boys!
