Friday Fanfare December 5, 2009

 

Early Dismissal:  Ellinwood Public Schools will dismiss classes at 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9th.  This time is set aside for teacher collaboration.  Due to teacher/staff meetings, the Grade School office will close promptly at 2:30.   It is important that arrangements for this early dismissal schedule are made prior to Wednesday.  Thank You.

 

IMPORTANT CALENDAR CHANGE:  December 18th will be the last day of school for first semester.  No early dismissal on that date.  Thus, you will have December 19th - January 3rd as Winter Break.

Classes will resume January 4, 2010.

 

 

Music Notes:  Music classes have been working hard on their upcoming Christmas concerts, set for December 15th (4th and 5th) and December 17th (K - 3), to be held at the High School auditorium.  Parents are encouraged to help their students with speaking parts.  Watch for notes from Mrs. Lebbin concerning costumes and attire.

During the past several weeks, I have been doing classroom guidance lessons on friendships.  In correlation with this theme, “Acts of Kindness” will be practiced during the month of December.  Attached you will find a December calendar with suggested acts of kindness on each date.   Your student has been given this calendar and has been encouraged to do as many things on the calendar as possible here at school and at home during the month of December.  It is our hope that these acts of kindness will become such a habit that they will carry over into all aspects of life.   You may want to change the calendar to fit your particular home and student.   The activities on each day are merely suggestions and I am sure you have many other ideas that would work just as well.  We wish you and your family a wonderful season full of kindness and caring!
