Your Google Apps Account
I forgot my Google Apps password. How do I retrieve it?
Please visit http://gapps.upou.edu.ph/gapwd.php to reset your password. It's should take only a few minutes.
I would like an account for use by our office. How do I create it?Send an email to administrator@upou.edu.ph with the email address of your preference and the name of the user who will manage the account. This user must be a member of Google Apps.
Google Apps and your UPOU Account
What is a UPOU Account?
A UPOU Account signs you into UPOU network applications like Google Apps Account Management, using only a single username and password. As we add more services, you can switch from one application to the other transparently.
What username should I use?
For now, students will need to remember three usernames and three passwords during their stay in UP Open University. The first is your UPOU Account, the second is your Google Apps Account and the third is your Moodle Account. We think that's a lot and you should be using only one, so we're happy inform you that we are working on consolidating the three. We'll let you know when you can sign in using only your UPOU Account.
I would like to change the Google Apps username assigned to me during sign up
For easy-to-guess email addresses, we are implementing standards when
it comes to usernames and email addresses. Students have a "learner_"
prefix followed by their first name and last name, while UPOU employees
use only their first and last names, separated by a period.
How do I know if I'm signing into a UPOU network site or a Google Site?
Check the logo located on the upper left side of the page. A UPOU network site has a title "UPOU eServices" with a dark green background while a Google site has a Google logo.
What's a UPOU learner account?
This is a deprecated phrase
that is used internally at UP Open University to refer to a Google Apps Account. We are sticking with the official
name of the product, since Google Apps offers
so much more than just a package for students.
Can I sign up if I already have Gmail?
Yes. You will be creating a new Gmail account through Google Apps at UPOU. This will not affect your personal Gmail account.
What options do I have for accessing email? The primary option is webmail - http://mail.google.com/a/upou.edu.ph
Alternative access options include:
POP
Configuring instructions are very similar to Gmail. In your mail client, anytime you're asked for an email address, enter your full email address (bob@example.com).
The incoming server is still pop.gmail.com and outgoing server is smtp.gmail.com. For more client-specific instructions, such as Outlook Express, visit http://google.com/support/a/users/bin/answer.py?answer=12103.
Mobile
Connect to the web. Enter http://mail.google.com/a/upou.edu.ph, and select OK. Bookmark the location for later.
If you have a BlackBerry, you can download the mail application. Navigate to http://m.google.com/a. It has most of the webmail features - search and conversation view. With automatic syncing, actions taken on your Blackberry are reflected in your email account.
This is separate from the Gmail for mobile application. A red M icon will appear for Gmail and a blue M icon will appear for our Google Apps email.
