Introduction

Who I Am:
I am (Lenda) Danys Betts. I grew up in San Diego, California. I am a freshman at the University of Northern Iowa. I am double majoring in Elementary Education and Middle Level Education. I enjoy spending mostly all of my time with my husband and our three sons. I am an anti-bullying, teaching tolerance, and civil rights advocate.

Why I am going to be a teacher:
In 2007-2008, I home schooled my son in the areas of Eighth grade Language
Arts and Social Studies. It was then that I realized that I wanted to teach. I love helping children learn; I always have. I believe my diverse heritage and upbringing attribute to my abilities to relate to, identify with, understand, and be accepting of the different
situations and diversities of all student's.

What I hope to achieve through teaching:
As a teacher, I hope to achieve creating an appropriate educational environment for the pursuit of knowledge, supportive problem solving, and the important practice of equity, respect, and tolerance. To accomplish my goal, I will encourage my students to act as a model neighborhood or community, in which the first order of business is to incorporate the ensured rule of welcoming accommodations, and fostering every member of the community. Through the integration of these practices I will assist students with useful tools for dealing with, and establishing productive resolutions for everyday situations and problems that they may encounter. Achieving my goal will cultivate the students' abilities to survive in our miraculous and sometimes maddeningly diverse world. Being able to handle situations and problems productively as they arise through their own behaviors will prove beneficial as they journey on into other educational opportunities. Working together hand in hand with my students in achieving my goal will be my ultimate achievement.
