The conference will be 4 days long, highlighted by a day and a half of oral and poster presentations, an afternoon of field trip preparation (presentations, orientations, hand sample examination), a full day of field trips, and a morning of round-table discussion. The end of the
conference will adjourn following lunch on the last day. The talks and poster presentations will take place in Thomson and Smith Hall. Also take advantage of our AbGradCon'09 google map for more specific directions to the various conference venues. In the afternoon, the Research Collaboration Workshop will take over for those who indicated interest in their registration form. The detailed talk schedule, in addition to the bios of the participants can be downloaded here: Schedule of the conference activities : Campus and lab tours: On your day of arrival prior to the conference you can visit the UW campus and meet people from our Astrobiology graduate program while taking a look at their research facilities. BBQ: A welcome barbecue will be held in the courtyard of Johnson Hall, the Department of Earth & Space Sciences. Posters and Talks: All participants will give either a 12-minute oral presentation (+3 minutes for questions) on their current work or a 2-minute description of a poster. All presentations will be recorded and made available to the international astrobiology community on the AbGradCon website, together with the respective poster in downloadable pdf-format. Please refer to previous emails (uploaded under News) for more information regarding poster format etc. Catered evening dinner: Dr. Monica Kress from San Jose State University has agreed to be our keynote speaker during the banquet. Collaboration round tables: We will split up in groups composed of people with diverse backgrounds, with the objective to exchange and develop possible interdisciplinary ideas that can be developed and pursued further in the form of research proposal. Tour of Seattle: The UW is within a short bus ride of downtown Seattle with lots of opportunities to spend time with your fellow Astrobiologists. Click here for more information. Field trips: All participants will have the opportunity to choose between a hike to the Mount St. Helens crater or a less strenuous tour around the volcano.
