Tutor Amigos LLC is a social mission-based, "for-benefit" company. I founded it in the early part of 2007 while in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The concept of Tutor Amigos is to provide academic support through online tutoring by connecting Spanish-speaking math tutors with English Language Learning (ELL) Latinos. Research has shown that providing native language-based support in academic content over an extended time period is successful in transitioning ELL students to the English-speaking classroom. Organizations do offer educational programs to non English-speaking youth and adult immigrants, and many provide access to technology. However the demand for these programs far outweighs the supply of qualified, Spanish-speaking teachers. By creating a conduit to recruit volunteer tutors and by providing affordable access to qualified and trained online Spanish-speaking tutors based in Latin America, Tutor Amigos acts as an extension to these organizations’ educational and technology outreach programs.
