Legalese

Harry Potter books and its characters, names and related indicia is (c)  J. K. Rowling and Warner Bros. Dissendium MUSH is in no way affliated with or endorsed by those parties. We are a nonprofit, third party enterprise. Private contact information given to the staff is not released to any third parties.

Policies

The hard and fast ones. Guidelines exist if you don't wish to annoy the old-timers, but they're not required reading.

Alts

3 max per player. You may not have alts that would interact too much, including immediate family members, members of the same Ministry office, etc. No two alts may be of the same Alliance.

Activity

All characters who have not logged in for more than 1 month will be purged. Prior to leaving the game or going on hiatus, a player may negotiate the fate of their character by:
  • granting another player NPC power
  • contacting staff and working out a reason for why their character has left the IC grid.
Players who have not taken these venues surrender the fate of their character to the staff. If you go on hiatus, you risk loosing your character slot and will suffer IC demotions.

Player Conflict

If someone does something that bothers you, talk to them. If after talking it still doesn't work out, you may contact a staffer to help mediate. Staff will never attempt to mediate a problem that was not brought to their attention by the players involved.

Regarding harassment: Don't do it. Harassment is defined as continuing, unsolicited and unwanted contact by any medium. If a player asks you to stop contacting them and you don't, they are entitled to report you.

Limited Consent and ICC

Consent only extends to your right to know the premise of a scene or plot and choose not to participate in them. Barring that, if you choose to participate in a RP, you have agreed to ICA=ICC (In Character Actions leads to In Character Consequences). This means that if you involve your character in situations that could put them at risk for injury, arrest or even death, they will suffer the consequences. Consent is not a shield against consequences that were fully provoked. To avoid unwanted consequences, OOC communication is key. In cases where OOC communication did not take place, staff will judge an outcome if the players cannot reach agreement. Staff will always try and give you fair warning to avoid obvious bad ideas.

If you're not absolutely clear what we mean by limited consent, see some examples.

Theme and Canon

Dissendium MUSH is AU and detracts from the events of the Harry Potter books before they begin, but the theme does take elements of canon from all seven published books. The rules and facts of the universe as J. K. Rowling wrote it all apply to Dissendium's theme. It is recommended you read all seven published books before playing. Except for literature written for Dissendium, interpretive works about Harry Potter, the movies, fanfiction, and other MU*s are not considered. Staff reserves the right to interpret theme and canon.

Rating

Just because something is not outlined in the rules does not mean it is acceptable. Let common sense and logic be a guide. Think before you act. Or type, in this case.
