Fixturlaser Dirigo Product Information
Instrument Manual

The Fixturlaser Dirigo puts laser alignment accuracy within reach of everyone! The ergonomically designed control unit fits comfortably in one hand. The live display means that you will get instant feedback when shimming or moving the machines. This eliminates the guesswork and the back and forth process, you are suffering through now. All this at an affordable price that means a really quick payback.

Fast, Easy, Precise

The Fixturlaser Dirigo features a unique laser line instead of the traditional laser dot. This makes setup and alignment much easier, as the line is wide and is easily projected to the laser detector.

The Fixturlaser Dirigo also features graduated labels on the laser heads that work with the laser lines, to help the operator ”visualize” the misalignment condition. This visual cue reinforces the digital values that are displayed on the unit, and makes evaluation and correction of misalignment an easier process. This is very useful when performing rough alignment. The alignment data is continuously updated. All movements of the motor are simultaneously displayed on the screen. The measurement results are displayed with a resolution of 0,01 mm. As you shim or move the machine, the values will be updated to let you know exactly where you are at each step of the way. This means no more guessing about the shim amount, or how much to move a machine. With the Fixturlaser Dirigo laser alignment system there is no interpreting of the values as with dial indicators. The position sensitive detectors precisely measure the misalignment. The large LCD display clearly presents the position of the machinery being aligned.

SOFT FOOT

A soft foot condition needs to be corrected before any alignment takes place. If not, the measurement result will be of no value. It is more or less impossible to establish if there is a soft foot condition without using some kind of measurement tool. With the Fixturlaser® Dirigo System it is possible to check soft foot.

The distances A, B and C have to be entered before checking soft foot.

PROCEDURE

  1. Check that all feet bolts are firmly tightened.
  2. Press PLUS and MINUS simultaneously to reach the soft foot mode. The text “soft foot” should now be visible on the screen.
  3. Position the measuring units in the 12 o’clock position.
  4. Press the NEXT button to zero the display values.
  5. Loosen one of the bolts and monitor the change of the displayed values.

If the deviation is less than 0.05 mm (2 mils), the foot has a good support. Tighten the bolt and go to the next foot.

If the deviation is larger than 0.05 mm (2 mils), the foot or its diagonally opposed foot is a soft foot. Tighten the bolt and check the diagonally opposed foot. If the deviation is larger than the previously tightened foot, then this is the soft foot. If not, tighten the bolt and go back to the previous diagonally opposed foot. It is normally worthwhile to try to improve the support of the soft foot by adding shims. Add the amount of shims corresponding to the larger deviation measured.

  6. Tighten and loosen the bolt once again to check that the deviation does not exceed 0.05 mm (2 mils).
  7. Repeat steps 4 to 6 for the remaining feet.

The soft foot is now checked and corrected and the alignment operation can now continue.

  8. Press PLUS and MINUS simultaneously to leave the soft foot mode and enter the measuring sequence.
