  1. A vast array of Test and Measurement Equipment

HVAC

Techrentals have a large range of specialized equipment for the heating and air-conditioning industry.

Valve Balancing TA,CBI

TA,CBI The distribution of chilled water within an air-conditioning system is vital to its efficient and proper operation. This instrument is designed to simply this task into a one man operation. Using this instrument you can correctly balance the flow of chilled water appropriately quickly and efficiently.

Refrigeration system analyser TES,560-2

TES,560-2 The Testo 560-2 measures pressures on the high and low pressure side of refrigeration units. The pressure connections are made of stainless steel. Corresponding temperatures can be measured using cable or wireless probes. A total of four temperature measurement points can be shown. The 4-way battery facilitates all conventional operations. A vacuum sensor measures absolute pressure and indicates the corresponding evaporation temperature of water. The vacuum cell is protected against high pressures by a special valve. 30 refrigerant curves are permanently stored in the meter. Additional refrigerants can be downloaded free of charge from the Internet. The wide selection of cable and wireless probes enables flexible measurement of different media and objects. The use of different instruments is unnecessary on account of built-in pressure sensors and simultaneous temperature measurement.

A variable time constant, “K-factor” and the range of hoods let you take good readings from a variety of types and sizes of diffusers even when flow is fluctuating. The Backlit display is easy to read in dim lighting, and gives both flow and direction. Temperature and barometric pressure may be input to give readout in actual or standard units, and a “balancing mode” allows you to easily adjust the dampers to a required preset value. For larger systems the data logging function lets you store up to 1000 data points with a time and date stamp; flows can be summed, and statistics can be calculated for branches and systems. You can review the data on-screen, or download it to a standard spreadsheet file for printing, storage or reporting.Spring is the time when HVAC systems generally change from heating to cooling. It is one of the best times of the year for facility managers to check that systems are working well, and to ensure that airflows throughout buildings are balanced and optimised for comfort, performance and economy. You can rent the TSI “Accubalance Plus” model 8373 from Tech-Rentals for as little as one day to help you with these primary tasks. The 8373 comes with a set of five hoods to match registers, diffusers and grilles. Weighing just 3.4Kg, these air capture hoods are easy to carry, lift and use. Simply hold the unit up to a diffuser or grille and read direct supply or exhaust airflow on the large digital display.

Airborne Dust Monitors TSI,8520

TSI,8520 Dust contamination is an important determinant of both indoor and outdoor air quality, with risk-factors for loading, particle size and distribution. In addition to the health risks airborne particles can cause major quality problems in many manufacturing operations. Dust can be released from building materials during or after construction, or contamination may occur from many outside sources. Indoor dust problems may be caused by unsuitable or blocked filtration systems, or vacuum cleaners collecting only larger particles and circulating the smaller ones. The TSI model 8520 “DustTrak” from Tech-Rentals is designed for real-time or long term monitoring in indoor or outdoor environments. Portable, flexible and easy to use, the DustTrak is equally at home in an office, or with its optional weatherproof enclosure on a busy construction site or quarry. Ozone Measurement AER,500L

Aeroqual logging ozone monitorThe Aeroqual Series 500 from Tech-Rentals is fitted with the "low" ozone sensor head for reliable ozone measurements in the zero to 0.500ppm concentration range. The use of a heated gas-sensitive semiconductor sensor gives excellent accuracy and precision, with a resolution of three decimal places. This type of sensor provides reliable results in a short measurement time, with the low range sensor head reaching 90% stability in only 95 seconds even for the very low levels found in workplace measurements. Because ozone is not produced continuously by "office machines" and as ozone itself is unstable a single reading is not representative - the Series 500 is fitted with a large memory for data logging, with download software provided, and may also be used "on-line" to a PC. While the sensor is heated the Series 500 is fully portable, with a rechargeable battery providing about four hours operation. The unit may also be run from a mains power supply. The Aeroqual Ozone Monitor is available from Tech-Rentals for periods as short as one day, with a two-day minimum recommended for best results in the average office.Ozone is created naturally in the upper atmosphere, and is also formed at ground level by photochemical reactions between air pollutants. Even on smog-free days a small amount of ozone is present in the air. However ozone is also produced in the indoor environment by machines that employ either UV light or electrical discharge, including most copiers, faxes and printers. These devices can increase ozone concentration in indoor air by the small amount required to be harmful. Symptoms can be noticed at continuous exposure levels as low as 0.1ppm, and levels around 0.2 to 0.3ppm can cause coughing, nausea and headaches in much shorter times. This "sick building" response is often made worse when office machines are grouped in office areas which may be less well ventilated, such as print- or photocopier rooms.

Features:

  • Measurement range 0.000 to 0.500ppm
  • High accuracy and precision
  • Rapid T90 response
  • Reliable heated semiconductor sensor
  • Easy to use
  • Internal data logging/download
  • Direct logging to PC
  • Self-diagnostic sensor
  • Battery and/or mains power

  • We have air quality systems to monitor the effectiveness of your air conditioning systems by monitoring CO2 levels. This is a very important measure of the effectiveness of an air conditioning system, readings above 1000ppm CO2 means you have sleepy and lethargic shoppers. Shoppers who are lethargic don't spend money. We can also measure if you are having problems with the introduction of CO from car parks etc. We can even measure the if it a problem with diesels vs petrol engines. i.e. is the 'bus stop' the problem or is it the car traffic! See TSI,8554 or the YES,205-5 As well as this we have data loggers for monitoring temperature and humidity on a long term trend. This may be useful for special requirements for exhibiting delicate items. Or monitoring the effectiveness of changes to your air conditioning systems See HIO,3641-20-KIT
  • How slippery are your floors? Slip injuries can means expensive court cases. Your duty of care is that you have to ensure the floors are cleaned to the appropriate standard and are not creating slip hazards. See SEV,TORTUSII
  • How good is the lighting in your centre? Are you wasting power by operating lighting at too higher levels? We have the equipment to measure the light levels. Too high and you asre wasting money, too low and you leave your self open for problems! See TOP,IM5-NATA
  • Are the sound levels in the centre too high. When you are staging events and sound levels are too high; this can also lead to costly litigation. Are you driving customers away from food court area simply because its too noisy and inhibit normal conversation, this can particularly be a problem for older customers. See BK,2238E-NATA
  • Building works being carried you nearby or is there public infrastructure operating nearby or the are plans afoot to change its operation. Well you may need a ground vibration logger to monitor any such changes. This could be very useful if in the future that it is found that your structure has sustained structural damage due to vibration! See ARL,EL-235
  • Are you carrying out some minor structural work? If you drill into concrete and hit the steel reinforcement it can be disastrous and extremely dangerous depending upon the type of concrete structure it is. You need to check the position of reinforcing bars whenever you drill into concrete we have the equipment to allow you to drill with safety. See HIL,PS200

Data loggers (including Power)

  • We have people traffic loggers. The can be used in such applications as counting human traffic when you change store layout, stage promotional events etc. Remember that to manage something you have to measure it! See TRA,RETAILPACK
  • We have data loggers to monitor and record power usage. A small effort with balancing your power consumption reducing you peak loads can provide dramatic savings. Also if you are having problems with power supply quality. If you need to document power disturbances the same piece of equipment can do both the power utilization and power disturbance. See CHK,PM30.

Flow Meters

  • The supply of water and subsequent sewerage charges and become a significant cost. If you need to monitor where water is being we have ultrasonic flow meters . These can be connected to the outside of a pipe without cutting the pipe, so they are quick and simple to install. See PAN,PT878
  • We can monitor air flow in air conditioning ducts if you have issues with balancing the air conditioning system, or checking contractors work See TSI,8373
  • We have equipment to monitor and 'balance' the supply of chilled water required by your air conditioning systems. The supply of the appropriate amount of chilled water of extremely important to the efficient operation of an air-conditioning system. See TA,CBI

Industrial Sites

Condition Monitoring

  • Vibration monitor RIO,VA-11 This equipment is used to record the vibration levels of machinery. Using these vibration levels you can monitor changes that indicate possible future problems
  • Thermal Imaging FLU,TI25 By looking at and comparing heat signatures from different pieces electrical and mechanical equipment faults can be identified very early in the piece and equipment repaired before catastrophic failure occurs.
  • Combustion Gas Monitoring TES,335 Any combustion process must be monitored for optimum efficiency. Any combustion process not operating at optimum efficiency will have a much greater likelihood of breakdown and failure.
