Saturday, October 24th from 1:30 to 3:30 pm we will be hosting the first ever "WOMEN'S ONLY" workout at Tohoku.
Over the years, many moms, sisters, wives, girlfriends, etc. have asked to have an opportunity to get on the mat without their kids or significant others around so they could focus on trying Judo for the first time, or if already experienced have an opportunity to work only with other women. I don't approve of a gender-specific workout and would be annoyed if the men thought to bar women from a workout---but I get it and sometimes the men simply by attendance and shear numbers have an all-male workout.
We already have 10 females who are attending and the number is growing--there will be novices and experienced people and some of the novices include those who have NEVER stepped on the mat.
So take this opportunity to attend this special workout on Saturday at Tohoku or pass this info on to one or more women you know who may want to attend; this is not for children, attendees must be 13 and over. Also, do not plan on bringing children, you will not be able to watch them during class.
INFO:
Check-in between 1:00-1:20 pm
Bow-in at 1:30 pm followed by group exercise
For beginners, we will cover all the basics: Ukemi (falls), Ne-Waza (mat technique), Tachi-Waza (standing technique)
For more experienced, Randori (sparring)
Facilitators: Dale Swett, Heather Swett
Beginners need to wear or bring a sweatsuit, we will try to have enough club judogis available for use.
NO CHARGE for the class, however you must bring your USJF, USJA or USA Judo card with you; if you are not a registered member you will need to sign a waiver for the class.
RSVP by email if you plan to attend so we can be prepared. Any questions--just email teamtohoku@aol.com.
