Team Tohoku brought a well-oiled machine to the Pan Am Masters and had a very successful event. Everyone fought well and had some amazing competition in their divisions.
Best finishes on the day had to be Seth Freedman with a fist pumping GOLD medal finish. This capped off a great 2009 year of competition for Seth who also competed on the U.S. Bronze Medal Team at the Maccabiah Games in Israel; won Silver Medals at the US Nationals Masters and Liberty Bell International---WOW!
Next High-5 goes to Nadja Vanterpool who just got back on the mat, after taking some time off for family and school--she went 10 matches; finished with 2 Silver Medals and was awarded the Female Sportsmanship Award for her efforts.
For the rest of the team---Silvers & Bronzes to:
Sergei Babovich, Roger Mazzella, Kevin McNavich, John Rynak, Mike Zenga

It's that time of year again, and although we've mentioned the date so you would save it, here's the rest of the info about the holiday party which is scheduled for Friday, December 11th
.
Here's the party info for the new members who may not be aware of what happens that night:
Junior and Senior members must attend in uniform (WHITE JUDOGIS ONLY)!
This is very important only white Judogis will be in the team photo. (If you don't own one make arrangements to borrow one -- do not wait until that night.)
The workout is light and FUN -- Juniors vs Seniors for randori.
Guests: The party is always a great time and we want to be sure all the members can bring their family or significant others--therefore, this is not an appropriate night to bring your children's friends to class nor is it an appropriate open workout for adults from other dojos.
Time schedule, please arrive on time and for children make sure they have a change of clothes, it is not appropriate to eat while wearing your ludogi. If you can only get there in time for the picture, that's fine--but get there.
7:00 pm SHARP – Bow-in
8:15 pm TEAM PICTURE
8:30 pm Buffet is OPEN
BUFFET-- every year the members of Tohoku create an amazing INTERNATIONAL buffet, filled with family favorites from around the world. So in keeping with tradition, every member is responsible for bringing something "ethnic" to the table -- appetizers, salads, side dishes, main courses, desserts, etc. The club supplies all the serving items (napkins, plates, plasticware, cups, etc.).

The past month went by very quickly and it's time for our second Women's-Only Workout!
Some of our group have stayed on the mat, and some of you are committed to only trying judo in this forum, whatever you want to do, is fine. There's a place on the mat for everyone.
This 2nd workout will take place on Saturday, November 21st from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm (half an hour earlier) -- again FREE. At the end of the workout we'll briefly discuss how to best set a schedule/calendar for 2010. We will not be getting together in December since it's a busy time for everyone.
