Frequently Asked Questions

Surely we get all the nutrients we need from a well-balanced diet?
Modern life places extra pressure on the body – stress, environmental pollution, medication, alcohol and processed food intake all increase our bodies need for nutrients. Unfortunately many diets these days fall a long way short of the optimum levels of nutrients that the body requires in order to stay healthy.

Most processed food (as well as some non-organic food) is likely to have a reduced vitamin and mineral content.

Can I see Think Nutrition through a referral from my GP?
Although many GP’s suggest that their patients consult with a nutritionist for many of their health concerns, a consultation with Think Nutrition is not yet available on the NHS.

How long will I have to avoid suspect foods?
This all depends on how body can begin to tolerate the suspect food once it has been reintroduced back into the diet after the initial 4 week programme. In some circumstances, this 4 week period may have to be extended, if, for example, the body's immune and digestive systems need additional support to eradicate the underlying problem.

Supplements - Are they really safe to take?
Yes, they are. However, they must be taken as their name suggests in addition to a good diet and exercise. It is not necessary to supplement huge quantities of a single nutrient. As nutrient needs differ greatly from person to person, it is wise to have a personal wellbeing consultation in order to assess your health and have a supplement programme tailor made for your needs.

How many Nutritional Therapy Consultations will I need?
This depends entirely on your current health, your personal budget, your individual concerns and goals and the level of support that you require. Most people have an initial consultation and between 1-4 follow up consultations. Please contact us with any individual enquiries.
