THE PHILOSOPHY OF OUR PROGRAMS encompasses the following values:

  • Alcoholism/Chemical Dependence is a treatable disease affecting body, mind and spirit.
  • The disease is primary, progressive, chronic, and if left untreated, can be fatal.
  • The disease affects not only the user but also all those significant, particular children.
  • Successful treatment must include the entire family, partners and significant others.
  • Women, regarded as the "cradles of morality", and socialized to be helpless, dependent and the caretaker of others, have special recovery needs that must be addressed to insure prevention of relapse and success in treatment. These issues include shame, guilt, humiliation, abuse, violence and lack of independent living skills.
  • Women are worthy of a safe environment in which to pursue recovery and prepare for independent living.
Services are provided in the least restrictive environment.
  • Women recovering from Alcoholism/Chemical Dependence have social needs which must be addressed to effect successful recovery.
  • Women residents should be willing and motivated toward openness and honesty.
  • Assumption of the responsibility for one's own needs is an early recovery goal.
  • Recovery from Alcoholism/Chemical Dependence is the responsibility of each resident with support offered in her treatment efforts, educational and vocational pursuits and personal growth.
  • Relapse may be a criterion for discharge and is an indicator of the need for other, more efficacious treatment/recovery approaches.
  • The active participation of the resident is essential to effective recovery. The absence of such participation in all activities will greatly diminish the probability of successful recovery.
  • Services will be delivered by staff with demonstrated competency through credentials, experience and certification in the treatment of Alcoholism/Chemical Dependence and the special treatment of women.
