Taglets.org was founded in 2008 by Mark Petrovic and David Beckemeyer.  Their goal was to explore the idea of following tagged items, and to learn enough Python and Google Apps Engine technology to implement it.

Taglets.org offers a public API so interested developers can implement their own ideas on top of the taglets.org service.  There is currently no charge for using the service or the API.
