There are numerous groups working on transportation and mobility issues in Hanover and the surrounding region. Attached you will find the most recent Hanover Master Plan discussion about Transportation as well as a summary of Streetscape Issues regarding pedestrians.
The New Model Transportation Analysis attachments are notes from a talk given by Lisa Aultman-Hall , Director of the new VT Transportation Research Center, founded in 2006.
2/7/09 - Community Workshop - Priority Actions:
- Expand & improve sidewalks & bike paths to encourage walking, biking, & fewer cars on the roads (e.g. Rip Road, Verona, Lyme Road by RMS to Mini-Coop) & install a bike path on Hanover Center Road from Rennie Road to 120 via Greensboro
- Develop a transportation system that integrates bike & pedestrian routes throughout town & includes expanded public transport & park& rides covering all commuter routes into Hanover
- Increase bike network & enforce carpooling
- Make Hanover more pedestrian & bike-friendly with less traffic by: a) creating more green spaces & pocket parks; b) creating a pedestrian mall; c) a 10-minute shuttle; d) car registration that charges more for the 2nd and 3rd cars in a household; e) specify $5 fee for bicycle & pedestrian improvements; f) more and improved sidewalks; bike lanes; g) Make Allen Street pedestrian only
