 Evaluation Guidelines

One of the major goals of C.A.S. is experiential-learning, which, simply put, is learning by doing and reflecting on the doing. When students critically and meaningful reflect upon a challenging activity it transforms it into a life-learning experience.

For students to get the most out of experiential learning, they must reflect upon their experiences over time, not at the end of an activity. Therefore, students must set goals prior to beginning (proposal/justification), during (keeping a reflective journal of experiences, thoughts, and feelings), and after (activity reflection).

Students will document their C.A.S. activities by keeping an online portfolio using their personal Google account and Blogger.

CAS Coordinator Evaluation

CAS is considered pass/fail based upon the evaluation by the CAS coordinator, who measures student progress using the standards set forth in the “Nature of creativity, action, service,” the “Aims of CAS,” and the eight “Learning Outcomes” set forth in this section.

Final Summary of Activities

This form is maintained by the student  (using spreadsheets on Google Documents) and is the official record of  COMPLETED activities, which have approved ACTIVITY EVALUATION and SUPERVISOR EVALUATION forms on file. You will be periodically asked to examine and sign the form to assure its accurateness. Once you have completed the program you will be given a final copy of the form. Both you and the CAS coordinator will sign the form attesting to its completeness. In addition to this form, you need to complete the final self-evaluation essay.
