18 October - London

Tired out of my brain, but in London.  And that seems a wonderful state to be in.

Only hours from touching the tarmac I've already ridden a double-decker bus, and a London cab.  In an hours walking I've surveyed the facades of Westminster Abbey, Parliament and MI5.  I've glimpsed Nelsons column, brushed past London bobbies (securing the road barriers for [the Olympic parade) and had a pub pie and chips.

This was my recce; the major outings to more history than you can shake a stick at will start tomorrow, when I sally forth with my bus ticket, and drawing block.

I'm staying in London with my friend Ted Hurlock, who has a top floor on a terrace in Clapham.  There's been sunny skies, and a nice fresh breeze.  Not at all the sub-arctic, or smog-laden conditions I'd been expecting.

If I have any neurons still firing after writing this, might try to do a sketch of some details from the ivy draped terraces opposite.

Grrrgle - tired.

Here's the sketch:

This blue door leads to Teds flat.  I made a point of writing down the address after twice trying my key in the wrong house.
