Rules and Expectations

Students are expected to do the following:

  • Have fun and do their best.
  • Report to class on time and come prepared.
  • Treat others with a Christian attitude.  That is, one that fosters an environment where students are comfortable trying the skills on which we are working.  Encouraging one another is expected.
  • Students should not touch equipment without permission.
  • Junior High students must dress out unless they have a written doctor's excuse.  St. Mary's PE uniforms must be worn.  Students may NOT wear other students' uniforms.
  • Primary grade girls must wear shorts under their uniform skirts.
  • Non marking tennis shoes must be worn.  These shoes must be in good repair to ensure safety.  This includes having shoes laced through the top lace hole and tied.  Shoestrings must be in good repair so we can tie the shoes.  Velcro, rather than lace tennis shoes, is not preferred, but acceptable if the teacher finds they are strong enough to keep the ankles safe in PE.  "Trendy" shoes are not acceptable unless they offer good support for activities.
  • Misbehavior in the locker rooms will not be tolerated.  The option of dressing out will be removed for a time determined by the teacher if expectations are not met.
  • Student's clothes should be placed in the their lockers even during PE.  No clothes should be on the floor.
  • Locks provided by St. Mary's are required to be on the lockers at all times.  These locks must be closed and not just placed on the locker.
  • Students will follow the safety rules of the gym to ensure a fun and safe environment.
  • Students are asked to address issues or concerns with the teacher.  This should be done immediately.  Everyone has the right to be able to have fun and feel comfortable.
