Homework

I highly recommend reading to your child daily. The more your child hears words and language, the more he/she will be ready to learn to read!

Homework will be sent home on Mondays in your child's "Homework" folder. The right pocket of the folder will contain notes and things that can be kept at home. The left side of the pocket folder will contain your child's work to be completed by the end of the week. You may choose to have your child do it all in one day, or spread it out over the course of a few days. I realize there are other events that take place during the week.

With your child having a "homework" folder, they will be reviewing things they have already learned at school and it will help teach them responsibility to be able to take the folder home and return it to school, completed, by week's end.

All folders must be turned in by Friday (or the last school day of the week) .

Zoo packets will go home on Friday and should be returned by the following Tuesday. Your child will not receive a new Zoo packet until the previous one has been returned.

Book Packets are introduced in January. Your child will bring home a book packet with a leveled reader enclosed. Please have your child read this to you until he becomes fluent in reading it. After your child is fluent in reading it, he can bring it back to school where he will read it to a volunteer. He will get a "new" book to share with you at home. A good goal to go for is completing 10 books the third quarter of school
