About Mrs. Klaege

I graduated from Aurora College in 1981 with a B.A. degree in Elementary Education. I began teaching 4th Grade at St. Nicholas School in Aurora, IL that fall. That summer, I taught Pre-K and Kindergarten migrant children in Aurora. The following year, I moved to Chicago and taught 1st Grade for the next four years at Immaculate Conception School on the Southwest Side of the city  I continued to teach the children in the Migrant Program in Aurora, IL during the summer of each year. My final year teaching First Grade, I tutored children from Kindergarten thru 8th grade.

I then began another project, my family! I was pregnant with my first child at the time and my husband and I decided that I would stay home with our children thru their growing years.

After 3 years of being full-time at home with our children, I started my own part-time Pampered Chef business, which allowed me to be with my family most all day, be with adults on a regular basis, and bring in some extra income to the family budget. I still continue my business and have started my 19th year as a Pampered Chef Sales Director.

When my youngest child turned 9 years old, I really missed working with younger children, particularly the 4 and 5 years old.age groups.  I began subbing in schools and continued on for 3 more years, usually in the Pre-K and Kindergarten classes. I discovered how much I loved working with children this age and decided to return to teaching. I am currently starting my 3rd year at St. Marys School and love what I do!. St. Marys has become an important part of my life.

My husband, Bill, and I have an almostg 23 year old son, Adam, who is a Senior at Bradley University in Peoria, an almost 20 year old son, Justin, who is a Sophomore at Hearland College and a 13 year old daughter, Emily, who is an 8th grader at St. Marys School. (I enjoy seeing her daily in school :) ). They are the joy of our lives. We also have our "furry" family members, our cat Frederick, our dogs Bailey and Toby, and our feathered friend - Sunny, a parakeet. Cookie and Diamond, our class hamsters also come home with me in the summer...so there is NEVER a dull moment at the Klaege house!

St. Pat's of Merna is our home church, though they do not have a home school. We have been active in our church community for 20 years. Currently, I am a Eucharistic Minister and a Lector there. Emily is an Altar Server.and volunteers in the Nursery.  In the past, Bill and I have served on the Family Life Committee, I have taught Religious Ed at St. Pat's and assisted with many of the activities with the Youth Ministry and Vacation Bible School. I have gone on 3 mission trips with the youth of the parish, been involved in their Mom's group, Elizabeth Ministry, Vacation Bible School and more. The boys have been involved in the Youth Ministry program there, as well. Most recently, I went on the Mission Trip to Appalachia with my daughter Emily, and the Youth Group from St. Mary's Church.

I feel blessed to  share St. Marys School with my family. I feel very thankful and blessed to work here as the Kindergarten teacher and have the opportunity to share the love of God with you child. Thank you for sharing your child with me :)

Mission For The Class
Catholic education is a vital component to a child's development in a Catholic
family and parents are primarily responsible for the religious formation of
their children. At St. Marys School, we build on the foundation that has been
established by the parents and we reinforce the teachings, values, morals, and
beliefs of our Catholic faith.

Jesus will be our example in Kindergarten. We will grow, learn, and and
become a family through His love. Each child will feel success every day and
learning will be enjoyable, creative and fun! We will develop life long
learners who are curious and excited about the world around them.
