New in 2009, United Way Small Business has been formed to encourage and recognize small businesses and proprietors who value the importance of philanthropy and who believe in and support the work and vision of United Way of Greater St. Louis.

United Way Small Business’ goal is to engage, equip, and enable small and emerging businesses to become or be more involved in their community.

Southwest Illinois 2-1-1

Piloted in February 2009, our information and referral 2-1-1 service is now available in Southwest Illinois. This free, easy and confidential 24-hour/seven days-a-week ‘give and get help’ phone hotline is now available throughout the Illinois counties of St. Clair, Clinton, Randolph, Monroe, Madison, Jersey, Greene, Calhoun and Macoupin. Those with cell phones may call toll-free 800-426-4626. www.211southwestillinois.org. The United Way’s pivotal role in meeting the needs of our community positions it to effectively connect people with assistance.

Multicultural Society

New in 2009, this Society is designed for people of all ethnicities who make a personal contribution of $1,000 or more annually to United Way of Greater St. Louis. The Multicultural Society will offer these individuals opportunities to meet with other key leaders in the region and prepare them for roles in serving our community. 

Retirees Society

New in 2009, this Society will encourage and recognize retirees who value the importance of philanthropy and who believe in and support the work and vision of United Way of Greater St. Louis. This Society strives to continue the relationship between United Way and retirees beyond the workplace through programs, meetings, service opportunities and more.

Des Lee Campus Collaborative

Seeks to extend United Way’s mission by fostering a new generation of leaders committed to the community, the United Way and the greater St. Louis region. In addition to raising and investing money into important student identified causes and organizations, DLUWU seeks to leverage resources to find solutions, strengthen communities and involve students in meaningful ways that truly make a difference.
 
Purpose:
  • Help students connect to the community in a tangible way
  • Connect students to the United Way movement
  • Leadership development
  • Help youth achieve their potential—our next generation of philanthropists
  • Increase community awareness among the campus community
  • Convene student leaders
  • Empower student leaders to become future United Way donors
  • Recruit and retain local talent – “it is hard to leave here when you get involved/invested in the community”
  • Support the local economy
