Mandate Circle

Rudolf Steiner School South Devon
More information about the mandate system is available in the mandate holders handbook, which is presently being updated. This will soon be available to access here.

Following last year's organisational review, there are now two regular school meetings, in addition to the department meeting that continue as before. The first is the collegiate meeting for all teaching staff, on Thursday at 4.15 pm. This focusses upon deepening the pedagogical work of the school. It is followed after a short break by the Mandate Circle, at 6.15 pm. This is for all mandate holders (including pedagogical mandate holders) or representatives from mandate groups.
The Mandate Circle is the monthly business meeting of the school, and in the interests of transparency  and accountability the minutes of the meeting and any written reports, proposals or major decisions are circulated by email to mandate holders, posted on the school and staff noticeboards. They will also be printed in the Flier.
Any written proposal receives feedback from other mandate holders at the meeting. It is not a decision or policy until announced at a subsequent or later meeting by the mandate holder. Everybody may give feedback; please contact the named mandate holder directly if you wish to do so.
The Mandate Circle work is focussed by the mandate coordination group, which is accountable primarily to the Mandate Circle and ultimately to the School Council.
As with all change there will be a period of adjustment and learning. If you have any concerns or questions or would like to attend a meeting please don't hesitate to contact the Mandate co-ordinator, Mark Eyers.
