Requests for pupil absences

Pupil absence request form

When a family wishes to request a planned absence for a pupil during term time for more than three days they should discuss the matter with the class teacher (or sponsor in Upper School) well in advance and in any case giving not less than three weeks notice. If the teacher supports the proposed absence this form can then be used to document the arrangement.

Early Years Foundation Stage Exemption

In line with other Steiner schools in the country we have applied from exemption from certain aspects of the new Early Years Foundation Stage Legislation. There are clearly areas that are incompatible with our approach to Early Years teaching. The attached letter is the same one that has been sent to all Steiner Early Years settings by the Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency, the government department responsible for granting exemptions. It gives an insight into how our schools have to engage with the detail of current legislation in order to protect the best educational interests of our young children. The letter will also play a key role in our next Ofsted inspection, enabling Ofsted inspectors to judge our work against appropriate Steiner-Waldorf criteria and not simply by those laid down by EYFS legislation.
