People

Some of the people who call themselves Unitarians and who live in Staffordshire attend the Newcastle-under-Lyme Meeting House.  Others may go to Meeting Houses in neighbouring counties e.g. Derby or Macclesfield.  Some will belong to the National Unitarian Fellowship and not link with a congregation.  some will have links with the Nightingale Centre in Great Hucklow Derbyshire.

The people who choose to attend the Meeting House in Newcastle-under-Lyme are all very committed to working together to develop our Unitarian community.  To this end everyone participates - it may be by taking on a responsibility like being the chair or the treasurer of the committee or it may be by helping with the refreshments or the flowers.

We have some young people attending who not only feel part of our community and but also part of the broader Unitarian community.  Events are put on nationally for young people - this page provides information about these.

We like to think that everyone gets satisfaction from playing their part and using their talents to make the Meeting House the place that it is.  We are developing our own set of values that we are hope govern the way that we behave towards each other and towards anyone who enters our Meeting House.

We truly value the opportunity to develop and practice our beliefs in community.  We aim to be

  • Welcoming
  • Friendly
  • Open
  • Respecting
  • Caring
  • Comfortable
We are each seeking to define what each of these values means for us as individuals and as a community.
