Christianity and Homosexuality - These two topics have recently seemed to be mutually exclusive. Members of the religious "right" say that one cannot be a good Christian and be homosexual while some members of the gay community say one cannot be an honest homosexual and Christian. Both of these statements are false and show a good deal of ignorance and fear on both sides of the issue.

Gay By God: Gay and Christian Resources - Designed to provide positive affirmation, gay and Christian resources and examine homosexuality and the Bible for persons within the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered and Queer (GLTBQ) community. The word gay is used to encompass the entire GLBTQ community and has a bold, yet simple appeal by using it in the statement, Gay by God. This grassroots strategy hopes to reach far beyond the GLBTQ community and into mainstream churches worldwide.

The Gay Christian Network - A network of gay Christians who come together to support each other and to share the good news of God's love with the world. This is an excellent site that includes a question-and-answer forum, testimonies, and books. All resources are reviewed carefully for appropriateness before being listed.

Gay Christian Online - This web site is designed to provide uplifting, positive information, support, love, encouragement and affirmation to gays and lesbians who seek Christ and who desire spiritual guidance, growth, and maturity through Jesus Christ. Homosexuality: Common Questions and Statements Addressed - Includes Biblical Q & A, and a summary of where mainstream churches stand on homosexuality. A brilliant site, very helpful and well-researched. Covers a wide array of other subjects as well, all designed to debunk stereotypes and myths about GLBT people. Institute for Inclusive Christianity - The Institute for Inclusive Christianity offers supplemental educational programs for Clergy, Christian Church Workers, and those interested in personal enrichment to promote the full acceptance and inclusion of everyone within organized Christianity regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status or any other reason.

Justin's World - A very insightful and intelligent site detailing one Christian's thoughts and experiences as a gay man.

Lesbian & Gay Positive Christianity - Answers to the clichés heard over and over when homophobic people are protesting the rights, freedoms or existence of lesbians, gay men and bisexuals - Those Things "They" Say About Gays. Articles on Biblical misinterpretation related to lesbians and gay men here and here.

The Lord is my Shepherd and He knows I'm Gay - To quote the Rev. Troy. D. Perry, Founder and Moderator of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches, "God did not create gays and lesbians so He could have something to hate!" The truth is, sexuality, whether gay, lesbian, bisexual, or heterosexual is a gift from God, every bit as much as God's love and God's grace are gifts! There is only one Creator who created all of humanity, and that Creator calls his creation good!

NOT That Old Time Religion - Encourages re-evaluation of all faith traditions, and Catholicism in particular, with regard to homosexuality, women, and people of color. Plentiful list of progressive links, books, and organizations.

Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance - This neutral organization is dedicated to promoting tolerance of all religious beliefs by examining facts and educating people. Check out their articles on The Bible and Homosexuality.

Sexuality, Marriage, and Christian Values - Arguments for including gays in full Christian fellowship.  The author's intelligent viewpoints and eloquence in expressing them are to be applauded. Covers subjects such as "The Wrongheaded Contemporary Debate on Homosexuality," and "Why Your Church Should Advocate Full Inclusion for Homosexuals."

Virtual Church of the Blind Chihuahua - A sacred place in cyberspace named in honor of a little old dog with cataracts, who barked sideways at strangers, because he couldn't see where they were. We humans relate to God in the same way, making noise in God's general direction, and expecting a reward for doing so.

Support For Families and Friends

Family Acceptance - Written by and for parents of gays and lesbians, the journey of one Christian family from being torn apart to coming together in loving support of their gay son. Wonderfully thoughtful.

Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) - Not specifically Christian, but I'm sure many members are Christians and can offer support from a Christian perspective. I have read and heard many testimonies about the incredible support this group provides.

Reluctant Journey - A preacher's reluctant journey from anti-gay beliefs to a ministry of friendship, support and Christian love, for lesbian and gay Christians especially. Also includes a link to the full text of his book "Reluctant Journey" online.

Straight Spouse Network - An international support network of heterosexual spouses and partners, current or former, of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender mates. Members provide confidential personal support and resource information to spouses and partners nationwide and abroad.

Wives of Bisexual & Gay Husbands eGroup - A closed membership of women (girlfriends, wives, and ex-wives) of bisexual or gay men. Because membership is closed, the women are free to explore the full range of emotions that are involved in the "coming out" process for the straight spouse. Membership is restricted to straight women only, please.
