What is the the url to login to my ANGEL account?
• That is http://angel.waol.org
How do I get an ANGEL account and Practice Classroom?
• Instructor accounts and practice classrooms for existing WAOL instructors were created on October 9.
• A flat-file process to be used by colleges to create instructor accounts and practice classrooms for instructors who are not already on WAOL was sent out on October 10.
• Web-based self-registration for instructor accounts and practice classrooms--contact your ELC
I don’t remember my ANGEL username or password.
At the WAOL ANGEL site, in the login box there is an “I forgot my password” link under the “Log On” button. This will send you your login information.
As a Lead Instructor are there any expectations that I format any classrooms other than my own? In other words, am I responsible for only my course or do I need to recreate a general master for the course I lead?
Our only expectation is that each instructor imports their own classroom from Blackboard into ANGEL. You are not responsible for any classrooms beyond your own. If, after using our ANGEL resources and tutorials, you still have concerns about moving your class into ANGEL please call our office and we will be sure you get the support you need.
What training and support will you be offering to instructors who are moving to ANGEL?
The training and support planned for the coming months includes the following:
• Web-based tutorials specifically directed at instructors who are moving from Blackboard to ANGEL. These tutorials include Flash animations, PDF files and YouTube videos all with step-by-step instructions. These materials will be up on waol.org, and we will add more materials as they are completed.
• Elluminate sessions several times a week where instructors can get a quick tour of ANGEL and ask questions of each other.
• Face to face Angel sessions delivered at multiple points along the I-5 corridor as well as the East side of the state. (The specific dates/places TBA)
• An ANGEL-users listserv for our state. (Two ANGEL listservs already exist, but we have had a request to have our own.)
• WAOL staff have been trained in ANGEL
1. The WAOL staff is ready and standing by to assist faculty in moving content to Angel. The above mentioned Elluminate sessions will be conducted by this office.
2. We have appropriated Boyoung Chae from the State Board elearning office and she has been trained in ANGEL and is working with the system in sharing existing Angel materials and F2F training opportunities.
• Our 24 x 7 help desk Presidium is being reconfigured and redeployed to offer assistance to both faculty and students in Blackboard, ANGEL and Elluminate. These changes will reflect the comments from you and the students that the WAOL office has received.
• ANGEL classrooms have a Help button on every page that opens the full 32 meg searchable instructor Reference Manual.
How long will instructors’ courses be available to them after the quarter they teach?
Courses will be available for one quarter past the end date of the course. For example, we will remove fall quarter classrooms at the end of winter quarter. Master courses stay forever.
I was under the impression that you will be ‘migrating’ our present courses over so we won't have a lot of work to do. I hope that is correct.
We've decided to create empty shells for all the courses that are moving to ANGEL rather than bulk migrate them. The "Self-Paced Online Tutorial for Blackboard to Angel Migration" above walks through the very simple process of importing your Blackboard course into ANGEL. However, we have heard from some instructors who moved from Blackboard to ANGEL that it was more efficient for them to start with the empty ANGEL shell and move their content over piece by piece. We are giving instructors an empty, named ANGEL shell, so the instructor can make the choice that works best for each classroom.
My pool of assessment questions did not transfer from Blackboard to ANGEL.
Question pools will not transfer but ANGEL has virtually the same feature.
I need to be able to view my course as a student when I’m building my course but I’m unable to use the “student view” when I’m in my classroom.
The student view will be available only when students have access to your classroom. If you want to see your classroom from the student view before it is turned on for students, you have several options:
1. Click on the eyeglass icon in the upper right of your ANGEL classroom, but choose Team Lead rights. Team Lead will show you the student view even if students do not yet have access to your classroom.
2. Use your Guest account. This account works just as it did in Blackboard. The Guest account for your classroom is the word guest followed by your WAOL ID number followed by the section number. The default password is the WAOL ID number. For example: guest9999sec1. Password is 9999. These guest accounts are available right now and have Team Lead rights. As instructor, you control the password, so you can control who can enter your classroom using the Guest account.
3. Build your course in your Master classroom and then export it into your current quarter classroom when completed. Then, you’ll also have your master completed and won’t have to worry about ever losing that content.
I have a problem with these plans. What can I do?
Please talk with your eLearning office or call WAOL. We want to know how things are working so we are eager to get your feedback.
What if my students accidentally login to Blackboard in the Spring?
In addition to your ANGEL classroom, we are creating a Blackboard classroom for you. The Blackboard classroom has a message telling students to go login to Angel. This is in case you have a student that by-passes our website and goes directly to Blackboard.
Will the student's login username be the same in ANGEL as in Blackboard?
The student user ID in ANGEL does not include waol before the student ID. In ANGEL students just enter their student ID number.
What if I prefer to teach in Blackboard because I'm not quite ready to use ANGEL Spring quarter?
If your ELC approves of you teaching in Blackboard then in addition to your Blackboard classroom, you will be given an Angel classroom that all your students will be enrolled into.
You will be required to update the Angel classroom to send your students to Blackboard. Instructions on how to copy your course into ANGEL and how to post messages in ANGEL can be found on this page under tutorials.
What are the login instructions I must post in ANGEL for students to login to Blackboard?
Post the URL http://waol.blackboard.com
RETURNING STUDENTS - To Login:
• UserID = waol + your student ID number
• Password = the same password you used last quarter
NEW STUDENTS - To Login:
• UserID = waol + your student ID number
• Password = first 5 letters of your last name (no spaces or punctuation) Password example: Johnson=johns, Lee=lee, O’Reilly=oreil
Are there any examples of actual ANGEL classrooms I can view to get a sense of how best to set up my own courses?
Yes, by going to the ANGEL login page at http://angel.waol.org and entering the following account information you will be given access to view a number of courses created using ANGEL:
Username: waol_guest
Password: guest
