Saxon Foundation

The Saxon Foundation seeks to support academic success at South Salem High School through fundraising, grant awards, encouragement, assistance, and advocacy. We are responsive to the changing needs of SSHS administration, faculty, staff, students, and families, so as to address the challenges that impact student academic achievement. Specifically, we meet school identified needs and opportunities that would otherwise not be met through the regular school budget. The Foundation seeks to enhance quality instruction and promote high levels of student engagement. 

In a traditional year, the Foundation holds a fall Gala and regular restaurant events to fundraise. Teacher grant requests are accepted in both the fall and the spring, and during the School Supply Drive. In addition, specific needs brought to the Foundation by the school administration are welcome at any point in the school year. Board Directors may also propose action based on unique interests, opportunities, and school needs. 

Here are a few ways you can help make a difference in your kid’s experience at South!

• • Attend a Saxon Foundation Meeting:
    Join the volunteers and help make decisions that enhance your kids’ experiences at South Salem High School.  We meet monthly during the school year. Sign-up for our mailing list.
      

  • Foundation Fall Gala:
    This is our annual fun and festive gala and is a great time to connect with other South Salem High School parents, teachers and staff.  We hope to continue this fundraising event in the future as COVID safety allows.  Sign-up for our mailing list.
      

  • Restaurant Fundraisers: 
    Who needs a reason not to cook dinner?  Throughout the school year, the Foundation works with local restaurants for funding opportunities.  Purchase a meal and the restaurant gives a percentage to the Foundation.  Watch for an email and flyers with restaurant fundraiser details or sign-up for our mailing list.
      

  • Shop Amazon to Benefit South Salem High School:
    When shopping at Amazon, 0.05% of money spent can be donated to the Saxon Foundation, which in turn will be used to grant funds to purchase equipment, books, and supplies for the classrooms. You can help by signing up for Amazon Smile and selecting South Salem Saxons Education Foundation.
      

  • School Supply Drive:
    Every summer, the Saxon Foundation encourages donors to purchase school supplies during the biggest sales and offers them to teachers and students when the school year begins. We'll post the link for the summer 2023 drive when available.
