As part of the Downtown Maryville Last Friday Art Walk (maryvilleartwalk.com), the Southland Books Artist of the Month will be local 7 year old and 2nd grader Bailey Lombardo, who is displaying original photography for sale as a fundraiser for Save Our Hemlocks and Friends of the Smokies. The reception will be held on Friday, August 29 from 6-9. Additionally, Southland Books, Detour Coffee, and Southern Studios Stained Glass have offered to donate a portion of the night's sales to Save Our Hemlocks on Bailey's behalf. Bailey took on adelgids as a pet project last May during a trip to Cades Cove, and she spent the summer trying to come up with a way to raise money to save the hemlocks (she made us buy bumper stickers, but she wasn't satisfied with "only paying for like two beetles"!), so we're very excited to be able to help facilitate her efforts.
