Classroom Rules

Our classroom has three rules: Be safe, be respectful, be responsible.   We will discuss the meaning of these rules in our community the first week of school.

Discipline Procedure

I will be using positive feedback in the classroom as the first method of avoiding discipline problems.  The students will earn points as a class for free time.  The students will also earn fake money in personal banks.  This will be used to purchase things in a class store.  This allows students to earn money for good behavior and following directions. This will also reinforce math and money skills.  We will be using a color coded discipline system in our classroom.  All students will start on green.  A 1st offense will move them to yellow and they will be removed from their working area.  A second offense will move them to orange and they will be asked to write a letter home.  A third offense will move them to red and they will have to leave the room and there will be a call home. The color of discipline status will reset daily.

Grading

Grading System

90-100% A

80-89% B

70-79% C

65-69% D

Below 65 F

The points received for a grading period will be divided by the points possible to calculate the letter grade.

Make-up Procedure

Students are responsible for getting and turning in make-up assignments. If they fail to do so in a timely manner, they will not receive credit.  If students choose not to do their homework or any assignment they will receive a grade of “0”.
  •  After an absence it is the student’s responsibility to contact the teacher to receive any instruction or paperwork that was missed.
  •  Students can contact the teacher during or before their absence to obtain any work that they will be missing.
  •

Homework

Homework will be assigned to improve understanding of topics. Homework will be written on the assignment board daily.  Each student will input homework assignments into an individual daily planner.  Students will have a green homework folder they will take home each day.  This should be reviewed for papers that need to be completed and returned and papers that should be kept at home.  All students are required to complete homework on time.  Each student is given homework Monday-Thursday.  Homework is due the following day unless otherwise specified.

SSA’s homework policy:

No late homework assignments will be accepted. If a student does not have homework at the beginning of class on the due date, that student will receive a zero. No DPS points will be assigned to late or missing assignments.

Extended project and paper grades will drop 5% each day the assignment is late. One Day Late – highest grade possible is a 95, Two Days Late – highest grade possible is a 90, etc. Late projects and papers will not be accepted after 5 days.

Teachers will inform students when a project or paper that follows this policy is being assigned and will remind them of the grading policy.
