Tests

There will be a test after every 2 chapters. Please read the “Test Procedures” part in “Classroom Rules and Procedures” section of this syllabus.

 Quizzes

You should be ready for pop quizzes anytime.

Participation and Effort

Participation does not mean showing up in the classroom. It means that a student always pays attention, asks questions, and tries to answer the questions the instructor asks, follows the instructions, and never gives up.

 Final Test

End of each semester students will take the final, covers all the chapters that have been covered.

Make up policy

1)       After an absence it is the student’s responsibility to initiate contact with the teacher to receive any instruction or paperwork that was missed.

2)      Students or parents can contact the teacher during their absence to obtain any work that they will be missing during their absence.

3)    If a student misses any assignment (homework, test, and quiz) due to this absence, he / she must come in within 3 days to make it up after he/she shows up at school.

Classroom Rules and Some Procedures

In order to have a productive learning environment, each and every student has to obey the rules and follow the procedures in the classroom. Everybody has a right to learn, and nobody has a right to prevent others from learning.

Our school’s general rules written in the Student’s Handbook apply to this class as well. In addition to school rules, I also have five classroom rules.

  1. Follow directions the first time
  2. Be on time
  3. Come prepared
  4. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself
  5. Do not leave your seat without permission

Consequences:

Any misbehavior that does not abide by the rules above is not acceptable while class is in session. The consequences are:

1.      First time: Warning

2.      5 min Time-Out (DPS)

3.      10 min  Time-Out

4.      Parent Contact

5.      Administration

(Severe incidents will be directly referred to Administration)

Classroom Procedures

Please Note: Many of the procedures mentioned below will be demonstrated in the classroom (some on the first day of the school, some when they come up). The students do not have to memorize these procedures; this list was prepared in order for the students to look at as needed. All of these procedures will be posted in the classroom as well.

Entering the Classroom Procedure:

When entering the class, the students must:

1.      Go to your seat

2.      Start doing that day`s bellwork

3.      No talking

Leaving the Classroom Procedure:

When the bell rings, the students must not jump out of their seats and run to the door. Nobody can leave the classroom until the teacher dismisses the class. It is not the bell who dismisses the class, it’s the teacher. Before the students leave the class, they must make sure that:

1. Sit up, face forward

2. Clear your desk

3. No talking

Turning in Homework Procedure:

Class  begins by giving the answers to the previous homework so that students can mark their incorrect answers and then collect the homework.                       NO LATE HOMEWORK IS ACCEPTED. If a student does not turn in homework on the due date, he/she gets “F”, “0” from that work. Students may ask their missing questions either in class right after finishing the homework or during tutoring.

Test Procedure:

Unless otherwise instructed, during the exam, the students are NOT allowed to:

1. Use their notes or textbooks,

2. Communicate with one another (Included but not limited to talking, whispering, miming, winking, using any kind of sign language),

3. Make any kind of noise (included but not limited to tapping on the desk with hand or any other material, stamping feet, dragging desks, whistling)

The instructor will consider any of these acts as cheating, and will take action accordingly.  When the instructor informs the class that the time is up, each student has to drop pens/pencils, face the papers down, and wait for the instructions.

Early finishers must follow the Procedure for Early Finishers.

Procedure for Early Finishers:

When a student finishes a task such as test or homework early, he/she must:

1. Remain silent,

2. Remain seated,

3. Wait until the teacher tells what to do next.

Please note that finishing early does not give a person the right to disturb others.

Restroom Procedure:

When a student needs to go to the restroom or lockers, he/she is expected to:

1. Raise your hand holding your pen or pencil (you do not have to say anything)

2.  Write the date and time in your planner

3. Take the hallway pass and leave the classroom
