02/04/08, 02/08/08 Wellness Week OPP Experience  UAAO members demonstrated their OPP techniques on interested faculty, staff and other students of ATSU in an effor to promote understanding of osteopathy and to improve members' diagnosis and treatment proficiency.  
03/05/08, 07/02/08, 07/31/08 Smoothie Sale Fundraiser UAAO members fold delicious and nutritious fruit and protein smoothies to the faculty, staff and students of ATSU in order to raise funds for the UAAO's National Convention and Convocation.  
03/19/08 Viewing of Dr. P. Standley's Fascia Presentation This was a viewing of Dr. Paul Standley's presentation "Biomechanical Strain Regulation of Human Fibroblast Cytokine Expression: An In Vitro Model for Myofascial Release?" The presentation talks about the microscopic effects of manipulation on cells and is another advancement in research related to Osteopathic Manipulation. It was presented to all interested SOMA students.  
04/02/08 T-Shirt Fundraiser Our chapter designed and sold UAAO chapter t-shirts in order to raise money for convocation as well as to raise awareness of our chapter on the ATSU campus. 
05/23/08 Approach Seminar Series I - Dr. Heath - OSA in Infants and Children  Dr. Deborah Heath, OMM specialist, presented on the Osteopathic approach to infants and children with obstructive sleep apnea. Clinical/diagnostic information on OSA was provided. The session was closed with a discussion of the possible Osteopathic treatments (venous sinus release, lymphatic treatments, etc.). This seminar was video taped and is available for viewing. 
05/30/08 Approach Seminar Series II - Dr. Nayeri - Chronic Pain Management Dr. Babak Nayeri, a Naturopath(ND) who is certified in Osteopathy and specializes in pain management, presented to SOMA students on the Osteopathic and Alternative medical perspectives of chronic pain management. The presentation was followed by a demonstration of Osteopathic treatments of a volunteer patient with chronic pain. Afterwards, Dr. Nayeri demonstrated alternative treatment of the patients pain with Chinese medicine and acupuncture.  
06/02/08 through 06/20/08 Log Wars In order to improve the completion rate of required logs, the log wars were initiated. This event also aimed at improving members' knowledge of osteopathic techniques as well as their proficiency in executing said techniques. 
06/26/08 Approach Seminar Series III - Dr. Downing - MVA  Dr. Downing, family practice DO, gave a presentation on Osteopathic considerations of treatment of a patient with a history of a motor vehicle accident. UAAO members and SOMA students were invited to attend.  
06/30/08 Approach Seminr Series IV - Dr. Kirsch - TMJ Dr. Jonathan Kirsch, OMM specialist, presented on the Osteopathic approach to a patient with temporomandibular joint disorder. He also demonstrated treatment techniques for TMJ dysfunction.  
07/31/08 SOMA Club Fair UAAO representatives were available to answer questions about how our chapter stays active on campus and how we meet the mission of the organization. Prospective members were recruited.  
Monthly OPP Practice Sessions Monthyl practice sessions were held so that all SOMA students had the opportunity to practice the osteopathic treatment techniques that were demonstrated to and required of them. These sessions included review of osteopathic principles, concepts and theories as well as of diagnosis and treatment. These were also opportunities for the students to complete required logs.
