There are SOMA conventions in the Fall, Spring and Summer. The Summer convention is for National Board Officers, but the Fall/Spring conventions are excellent opportunities for members to get involved in the policy-making process, network, and just have an excused absence to have fun!

The Fall convention is immediately before the AOA annual convention, and Spring convention takes place immediately after DO Day on the Hill in Washington DC.

The Fall 2008 SOMA Convention will be in LAS VEGAS from October 24-25.  It is in conjunction with the AOA annual convention from October 26-30.  Both conventions are at the Venetian. Keep checking www.studentdo.com for info on lodging and the agenda.

The next D.O. Day on Capitol Hill is March 5, 2009.  The Spring 2009 SOMA Convention will be March 6-7. More information about these events will be posted in January 2009.

Check out the newsletters in the attachments section that your officers compiled from last year's conventions to get an idea of what the business part of the cons are like. Keep in mind we left out the hotel-included Happy Hours and evening parties at local venues. ;)
