The Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle Practice telling time to the hour while learning about ladybugs and how to get along all wrapped up in another beautifully illustrated book.
Some of the Illinois state standards that will be covered are:
1.A.Kg Read one syllable and high frequency words (when we practice reading The Grouchy Ladybug in the pocket chart and learn the rule about doubling consonants at the end of words.)
1.B Apply reading strategies to improve understanding and fluency (when we make predictions about the books we read and take a deeper look at pictures.)
2.B.Kc Comprehend and respond to fiction and non-fiction (as we read both about ladybugs.)
3.C.K Use drawing and writing to convey meaning and provide information (when we record what we have learned about monarch butterflies and when we complete a venn diagram comparing butterflies and ladybugs.)
5.A. Locate, organize and use information from various sources to answer questions, solve problems, and communicate ideas (when we record in our science logs observations about live painted lady caterpillars and ladybugs.)
Additional St. Mary School curriculum objectives:
To identify the great commandment given to us by Jesus (continued from last week.) |
