Butterfly Life Cycle

This week we will be reviewing the butterfly life cycle.  During the next few weeks we will continue that study as we participate in Journey North, an Internet resource that helps classrooms track the spring migration of the monarch butterfly.  There is a link on our webpage. http://www.journeynorth.org/

HOMEWORK

MONDAY:  Look for signs of spring and draw a picture.

TUESDAY:  Look for 5 high frequency words in a magazine. Cut them out and bring to school.

WEDNESDAY:  Explain to an adult family memeber what you did in art today with Mrs. Jochem.

THURSDAY:  Count backwards from 20 (or whatever seems to be a challenge).

FRIDAY:  Bring sharing-in-a-bag!

TUESDAY:  Computer Class

WEDNESDAY:  Mrs. Behymer will substitute (I will be in Arizona at my son's graduation from college!)  Art with Mrs. Jochem.

THURSDAY: 11:30 Dismiss, Mrs. Behymer

Days of the week, counting, and the butterfly life cycle are all wrapped up in one in this repetitive and  beautifully illustrated classic book. 
 
Some of the Illinois Learning Standards that will be address:
5.A.K  Seek answers to questions through active exploration (when we record what we already know about the butterfly life cycle and begin to read books, gather information on the Internet, and observe painted lady caterpillars first hand.)
5.C.K  Apply acquired information concepts and ideas to communicate in a variety of ways (when we begin to record some of the new information we have found about the butterfly life cycle).
3.C.K Communicate ideas in writing to accomplish a variety of purposes (when we participate in a creative writing activity based on The Very Hungry Caterpillar and art activity.)
