 If your student is absent, I MUST have a signed, written, excuse when the student returns to class. Thank you.WHFT on a graded paper means "with help from teacher." This means I have given the student much more than the usual amount of help on the assignment and have deducted 2-15 points to make the grade reflect this.
Papers with no name will be deducted 5 points.
Remember, under Saxon Math, your student will have 2 homework sheets almost every night. One sheet pertains to the daily lesson and the other is a facts practice sheet, which needs to be signed. The exception will be every fifth lesson, when there is a test and no homework.
Please check your student's folder nightly. Initial your student's assignment sheet.
This year grade 3/4 may bring a healthy snack each day. See note in registration packet for details. No cookies, chips, or sugar snacks will be allowed. A dry snack that can be eaten while we work is preferred.
There will be a spelling test every Friday. If there is no school on Friday the spelling test will be on Thursday.

You may wish to save old spelling lists, in case your student winds up in the school Spelling Bee. Please don't keep your child's spelling list until it appears in the " graded papers to keep" pocket of the folder. I do collect them for a grade right before each week's test.
On S.I.P. (11:30 dismissal) days this year, students may wear sweats if they donate 50 cents to the sister parish in Guatemala. This is optional. Teachers may wear jeans each Thursday for a $1.00 donation.
Every Friday is Library Day.
Please send a suitable jacket/coat with your student from now on. We have P.E. at 10:00am daily, and go outside whenever possible.
Birthday treats are welcome. Please no drinks or gum. Please do not send a treat that needs to be cut or dished up, as this takes up too much classroom time (and I don't have utensils, plates etc.).
