Taught by Ellen Heed Dates: Jan. 22nd - Feb. 19th, 2010 Time: Every Friday 12pm - 6pm Cost: $360 (30 CEUs) Craniosacral work from the Visionary Tradition is about touching and the history, movement, and energetics of the bones of the cranium, sacrum, spine and pelvis. By using sensitive fingers and present attention, we learn to follow the dance of the bones and unwind longstanding patterns of tension and stored trauma. This class is about how to introduce craniosacral work into your practice as a massage therapist. Whether you are just beginning your career or are a seasoned professional, this class will give you the tools and information to enrich your professional experience and help your clients. We will cover the basics of cranial anatomy and learn protocols and theory each week that can be woven into a massage or used as stand-alone treatments for: * Headaches * TMJ disorder * Neck, shoulder, and upper back tension * Low back pain * Sciatica & sacroiliac pain * Rebalancing pelvic bones after childbirth or surgery * Releasing stored trauma from the bony structures of the body What to wear: Loose comfortable clothing. We will remain fully clothed throughout the class. What to bring: Your copy of The Heart of Listening Vol 2, The Atlas of Human Anatomy by Frank Netter, a notebook, a folder for hand-outs, and (an optional) meditation cushion & blanket. If you have your own massage table, inquire at the office if you need to bring it with you. What to expect: An opportunity for deep personal transformation as your forgotten memories and stored tensions begin to reveal and release themselves through the class process. Class will begin promptly at 12pm. Latecomers will be admitted after the opening meditation. There is a minimum requirement of 18 and a maximum limit of 26 students for this class to occur. Suggested texts for this class are: The Heart of Listening - A Visionary Approach to Craniosacral Work Vol 2, by Hugh Milne The Atlas of Human Anatomy by Frank Netter.
