The Shiatsu Massage School of California teaches both traditional Anma massage and modern scientific Shiatsu therapy. We are a healing arts center guided by the Chinese art of self-healing called Doin. At our school, modern Shiatsu is taught in Short Form and Long Form. Short Form is a thirty-minute session, in which pressure and manipulative correction are applied in three postures (kyosei-ho), focusing on the abdomen and along the spine to balance the sympathetic and para-sympathetic nervous systems. Traditional Anma, is taught in Long Form which is applying techniques of soothing, kneading, pressing, vibrating, exercising, correcting, shaking, semi-tapping (kyokude) and tapping. These techniques heighten one's own natural healing ability by balancing the energy flow and life force throughout the body. Applied to about one-third of the 365 vital points of the body, this form takes approximately one hour to perform. Both the Short Forms and Long Forms work to relieve stiffness, aches, discomfort, psychosomatic troubles caused by stress, sports injuries, occupational injuries, auto injuries, and imbalances of various internal organs by improving circulation and regulating the metabolic and autonomic nervous systems. Enrich your life by becoming a professional in holistic health care. Classes are relaxing and practical, and attended by a variety of professionals and non-professionals. Our programs are developed to support and fulfill your goals. "Prevent trouble before it arises Put things in order before trouble exists" - I Ching |
