Our monthly orientation welcomes anyone interested in the healing arts. The most frequent orientation guests are potential students, current and future healers, bodyworkers and massage therapists. Some guests simply visit to nurture their curiosity about Asian style bodywork, learn something new about health and self-care, and enjoy the ocean breeze in our meditative surroundings.

Coming to the orientation is the best way to find out if our school would match your educational and personal growth needs. Since we have been a community landmark for the last 25 years, we are able to serve as a valuable source of information.

The first part of the orientation is in the form of lecture and demonstration of our unique healing method Shiatsu Anma. It is presented by SMSC founder, Academic Director and current instructor Dr. Kaneko.

After the demonstration and answering students' questions, we lead you step by step through the administrative part of the orientation. Current and upcoming schedule, curriculum, registration process, books, film nights, community events, workshops, licensing, scholarship and payment plans are sample topics of what is discussed. This part of the orientation is usually hosted by the Executive Director and Student Counselors who have had the pleasure to experience SMSC as students.
