Diploma A

Shiatsu Anma Technician

Consisting of 150 hours taught over 3 to 4 months.

Diploma A teaches a comprehensive understanding of the healing arts and Shiatsu Anma practice through "Short Form" and "Long Form.”

Students are introduced to the ancient healing art of Shiatsu-Anma massage therapy. Students learn the philosophies, history and background of Chinese medicine as a western healing practice, how to apply Shiatsu-Anma techniques using the body’s meridians and pressure points, fundamentals of starting and maintaining a massage business with the necessary legal, business and ethics course knowledge. Students become familiar with the lifestyle demands of a massage career and how to treat their own ailments with the self-healing art of Anma-Doin. Upon completion of the 150-hour program, they will be equipped with the practical tools of a massage technician.

shiatsu anma practice 48 hours (Technique & Practice)
Demonstration and practice of whole body massage in sequence of two forms: Short Form and Long Form.

shiatsu anma theory 12 hours (Vital Point Locations and Indications)
Definition, history, principles, preparation of practice, contradictions & precautions.

traditional chinese medicine 12 hours (TCM)
Overview, cosmology, characteristics, Yin and Yang, fundamental substance of the organism, Five Elements, Vital Points, oriental anatomy and physiology.

anatomy & physiology 12 hours
Basics of anatomy & physiology for beginners.

pain and orthopedic evaluation 24 hours
Western scientific method to treat pain due to sports and occupational injuries and conditions.

cpr & first aid 8 hours
Signs and symptoms of heart attack. Risks and prevention of heart disease. One-person cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Taught by certified Red Cross instructors.

anma doin (Self Healing Art) 6 hours
Traditional Chinese breathing, meditation, self-massage, therapeutic exercise and prayers.

ethical, legal and business issues 6 hours
Hygiene, ethics and legal issues & common business concerns including licensing.

introduction of clinical study 20 hours
The practice and application of acquired Shiatsu massage techniques on clients under the supervision of the clinic supervisor.
