myofascial meridians
taught by Brian Campbell Mondays and Thursdays March 5th - 30th 6:15pm-10:30pm Tension in a muscle does not end where the muscle ends. Rather tension (energy) gets transferred across joints via continuities of fibers in the myofascia. It is possible to track tension lines that begin in the foot, travel up the knee, through the hip, around the back and up into the neck. This course is an experiential study of 6 myofascial meridians, as defined by Thomas Myers. Theory includes: -Identifying the anatomy of each myofascial meridian in the body and their major landmarks -Understanding how tensions, blocks, and patterns within the myofascial meridians shape our posture and contribute to common pain syndromes -Relationships of myofascial meridians to the energetic meridian system of Traditional Chinese Medicine -Emotional holding patterns in the myofascial meridians -Structural analysis Practice includes: -Identifying and palpating each muscle within each myofascial meridian -Technique demonstrations -How to release key muscles within each myofascial meridian -How to strengthen key muscles of weakness in each myofascial meridian Suggested Course Textbook: Anatomy Trains – Myofascial Meridians for Manual and Movement Therapists by Thomas W.
