For the past 11 years John Strelko has been following a Spiritual path. His path has utilized Sivananda Yoga, meditation & practices and Hatha Yoga as well. While attending meditations at Self-Realization Fellowship he became a devotee of Paramahansa Yogananda.

At the result of a car accident in 1995 leaving John limited physically he changed careers from the plumbing industry & management. The limitations of the western medicine left a sour taste and opened up to undreamed of possibilities. At the advice of a friend, John got over his limitations about holistic medicine and finally attained healing progress when acupuncture and massage were added to his recovery.

The healing arts had taken hold. After countless attempts to attend SMSC for shiatsu, John pursued another direction with Spiritual Psychology, a class that would align Spirit with goals and purpose, adding meaning and direction to a (victim state) John had been in the past.

In 2008 John followed the desire to become a holistic practitioner at SMSC which immediately sent him into reiki, energy work, cranio sacral, kun-lun and life coaching. The fascination with the body and the inner healing capabilities coupled with a meditative quality has been inspiring to watch him in action. His presence is welcoming, peaceful and comfortable. Producing what is now a ready and willing participant of the healing arts.

Om Healing Circle

posted ‎‎Feb 13, 2009 2:46 PM‎‎ by Unknown user   [ updated ‎‎Sep 3, 2009 4:08 PM‎‎ by lana sontag ]

Om, a primordial sound that can be traced back centuries in many different cultures, is a balancing and healing sound. In our society, it is most usually associated with the opening and closing of a yoga or meditation practice and signifies a shift to a deeper consciousness and a calmer mental state.

Chanting Om creates a deep vibration that calms the nervous system and begins a deep relaxation throughout the body. Om is said to be the original vibration that arose at the time of creation. The sound of Om is also called Pranava, meaning it sustains life and runs through Prana or breath. Om also represents the four states of the Supreme Being.

The three sounds in Om (A-U-M) represent the waking (A), dream (U) and deep sleep states (M). Whenever Om is recited in succession there is an inevitable period of silence between two successive Oms. This silence represents the "fourth state" known as "Turiya" which is the state of perfect bliss when the individual self recognizes his or her identity with the supreme.

During this class we will be continuously chanting Om while gathered in a circle with three people in the center. The class will be split into two groups that will begin a few seconds apart so that there will never be a moment of complete silence. The group in the center receives this pure healing energy and transmits it back to the larger group. As the sound grows, negative energy is pulled up into higher Consciousness. Direct the pure energy generated towards someone who’s ill or needs help; that energy will be transferred to them. Everyone will get the opportunity to be in the center of the circle as we will change places every 15 minutes.
