Information Literacy Unit Syllabus Winter 2010 Basic Expectations 1. Students will attend 10 sessions in the Library/Media center to receive direct instruction from the Teacher-Librarians (Mrs. Synk and Ms. Pekar) 2. All classroom expectations and SJA Handbook rules and consequences will be followed. This includes the Dress Code policy. 3. Each student is required to bring her A Pocket Style Manual (purchased from the SJA bookstore), Information Literacy folder, and pens/pencils to each class. A jump/flash drive is highly recommended. 4. Each student will be responsible for maintaining a “glossary” of information literacy terms in her folder. 5. Student work will be graded by the Teacher-Librarians, and the Classroom Teacher will record them in PowerSchool each week. 6. There will be a test at the completion of the unit and questions on the EOC exam. 7. Late work will not be accepted. 8. The class website is available through the SJA Website. Because of the brief time the class will meet it is important for each student to attend class everyday. If you are absent, you are responsible for completing missed assignments as quickly as possible. 10.
