The Information Literacy Unit is a part of all 9th grade English courses and fulfills multiple state English,
technology, and library standards. During a two week period, students will attempt to answer the
question, “What does it mean to be information literate in the 21st Century?” The unit is designed to
teach the research process and develop information literacy skills. Students will then be required to
apply these skills to create an annotated bibliography at the end of the unit. Ultimately, the students
will be able to transfer these skills in every research assignment they receive for the rest of their academic
careers.
