IMLoud

IMLoud is an AOL AIM plugin that let you hear your instant messages. This plugin is very useful if you are a multitasking user and you want to improve your productivity, because you can work in a document or surfing the web while you listen your friends messages.

 

How get it?

  1. You can get this plugin here [mirror]
  2. Close AIM
  3. Execute the installer. 
  4. Start AIM

How use it?

After you install IMLoud, you'll see the option "Listen your IM" in the actions menus. After you click on this option, you'll start to listen any instant message -IM that you receive it. As appear in this image:

If you don't want to hear your IM, just look for the option "Stop listening your IM" in the same actions menu.

March 26. Second release: Thanks to all the people who give me feedback, I took all your suggestions for this release. New features added:

  • Male and female voices added: You can select between a male or a female voice to hear your IMs, to change the plugin settings use select the menu "edit", option "settings..." and "plugins" tab as appear in the image.
  • Emoticons interpreted: IMLoud will read the emoticons from your conversations.
  • Custom AIM clients supported: IMLoud now supports other IM types, this enable the use in other windows based AIM clients.
