The Shoreline CC Library, Technology and Media Center is offering Technology Moments: 30 minute informal talks about technologies from Web 2.0 and beyond.  Technology can help you manage the information overload in your studying, teaching and everyday life. We will talk about cutting-edge technologies and services that are getting buzz.  Some of these technologies will have longevity and some will fizzle. Blogs and Feedreaders

Do you love blogs (online personal journals)?  Would you like to write one yourself?  We will talk about how you can get a free blog or use TSS-supported blogging software.  Let's brainstorm ways you can use blogs to support your studies and teaching at Shoreline.  If you like to read blogs for fun or to keep up with your field, a feedreader collects all your favorite reading to one place.  You can check your favorite newspaper without having to go to the newspaper web site.  You control what you read and where you read it.  A feedreader gets your various reading under control, so you don't forget about your favorite blogs and web sites, and so you don't spend a lot of time looking for them.

Tagging and Social Bookmarking with del.icio.us and flickr

Tagging is adding a descriptive label to an item such as a web site or a picture.  Its power lies in the fact that anyone can do it; not just cataloging librarians.  You can organize your pictures any way you want to; you can organize your bookmarks any way you want to.  And then you can share with your friends.  Come see how tagging has possibilities for teaching, organizing your research, and working with other people.

Microsoft E-Learning
