The Shoreline CC Library, Technology and Media Center is offering Technology Moments: 30 minute informal talks about technologies from Web 2.0 and beyond. Technology can help you manage the information overload in your studying, teaching and everyday life. We will talk about cutting-edge technologies and services that are getting buzz. Some of these technologies will have longevity and some will fizzle. Decide for yourself! Please join us in the library classroom, room 4214, as staff and faculty from the Library, Distance Learning, Media and TSS talk about these cutting-edge, practical technologies. Faculty, staff and students are all welcome! Task List: Remember the Milk RTM is a web-based task list that will help you organize your studies, errands, projects and life! You can access it via the internet. You can organize it with tagging and lists. You can add it to your Google email or personalized Google search. You can share lists with friends and colleagues, and you can send tasks to other people. Come see how RTM works, and get your life organized. April 14 Do you love blogs (online personal journals)? Would you like to write one yourself? We will talk about how you can get a free blog or use TSS-supported blogging software. Let's brainstorm ways you can use blogs to support your studies and teaching at Shoreline. If you like to read blogs for fun or to keep up with your field, a feedreader collects all your favorite reading to one place. You can check your favorite newspaper without having to go to the newspaper web site. You control what you read and where you read it. A feedreader gets your various reading under control, so you don't forget about your favorite blogs and web sites, and so you don't spend a lot of time looking for them. Learn how to build attractive, clean tutorials that you can post to Blackboard, your web site, or a cd. Its power lies in the fact that anyone can do it; not just cataloging librarians. You can organize your pictures any way you want to; you can organize your bookmarks any way you want to. And then you can share with your friends. Come see how tagging has possibilities for teaching, organizing your research, and working with other people. These self-paced online classes cover beginning through advanced topics that include XP, Vista and the 2003 and 2007 versions of Microsoft Office.
