At School...
November is Diabetes Awareness Month
All people; adults & children, should been screened during their yearly physical. This can be achieved easily with a simple urine test. Remind your doctor at the time of your physical to check your urine for sugar.

Health Tips
I am very excited to be here at St. Francis of Assisi School this year and I look forward to meeting all of you very soon. I can be reached at school Monday-Thursday from 10am until 1pm, and on Fridays Mrs. Maher will be here. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to give me a call. Simple Tips for Staying Healthy
Eat well balanced nutritious meals.
Get a good nights sleep;
school aged children require 8-10 hours/night.
Practice good hygiene habits:
*handwashing for 20-30 seconds
*brushing our teeth @ least 2x/day
*covering our coughs & sneezes with a tissue or elbow
*wiping down cell phones & computer keyboards daily
MEDICATION AT SCHOOL
Any student needing to take medication while at school needs to have the medication authorization form filled out by both doctor and parent. Download Form Here

Flu News...
Parents must Download Return to School Note
If your child is absent with an Influenza Like Illness(ILI) this note must accompany them upon their return to school.
All Pre-K 3 & 4 students are required to have the regular seasonal influenza vaccine between the dates of Sept. 1 - Dec. 31 regardless of when their last flu shot was administered. Please send in signed & dated documentation from the flu shot provider when the vaccine is received. The CDC is also recommending the H1N1 flu vaccine to all school aged children but especially to those with underlying health conditions.
Flu Shot Clinic Dates:
H1N1 Flu shots will be available on the following dates for the following age groups:
Fri. 11/20 for children under 4 years of age
Tues. 11/24 for ages 4 and older
A reverse 911 should be going out to the community this week.
